You might have provoked it though:
And then proceeded to throw in your subjective viewpoint, while automatically antagonizing your interlocutor, whether intentional or not.
By saying:
You automatically made it look like @MarcosC, is blinded by the media and has been brainwashed to have unrealistic beauty standards for women, which is a personal attack no matter your intention.
The only thing that made this “okay” was the classic:
And we all know how the “I’m just saying” and “maybe I’m wrong” go → Not well
@MarcosC’s reply might have been too aggressive for your taste (it was raw and direct, signified his irritation at your overall tone, and told you to stop there; but of course you had to reply ), but it is perfectly logical if you know a tiny bit about human psychology
Anyways, to close this out on a more positive note, the truth is quite simple…
You just have to combine:
→ Beauty is a mechanism of judgement, and as with all mechanisms of judgement, there is an objective layer, which is then offset and deformed by a subjective layer (sometimes to extreme amount, but rarely)
And this is why Marcos’ original statement is correct. The keyword is “most” because it indicates a statistical reality, not exceptions.
