TBH, I think the official server's siege windows need to be adjusted :|

This is my first time playing Conan PvP. In just the past three weeks, my base on the official server has been completely wiped three times. Looking back at the official server settings, the siege window is from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM—a whopping 5 hours long. Honestly, it just drains me mentally.

As an everyday Asian worker, it’s incredibly hard for me to be sitting in front of my PC right at 6:00 PM ready to defend, let alone holding the line for 5 full hours just to stop people from destroying the base I worked so hard to build. To make matters worse, for experienced players, wiping someone else’s base might only take 5 to 10 minutes.

That’s why I firmly believe this raiding window needs a proper adjustment. First, the total duration should be shortened. Second, the timeframe needs to be rescheduled. I think 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM would be the ideal sweet spot—it’s right when most Asian players have finished dinner, are ready to log on and relax, and 10:00 PM is a reasonable time to wrap up and head to bed.

I truly hope the developers can take this feedback into consideration.

What system are you on?

Also the only other way to keep your building will be in a PVE-c server

Where they can’t destroy your buildings

Or joining a private server with the settings you’re looking for.

Hope that helps

I’m on Steam.

Does Funcom run official PvE-C servers?

There should be.

Just choose pvec when u start

Yes there are.

Alternatively on PVP, especially if you’re running solo, you may have to consider nomad or hidey hole playstyles until you can build up.

However, I do agree with a shortened raid time overall if FC is not interested in implementing the Dynamic Building Damage (DBD - 30 mins after log off you become unraidable) system on Officials. Clan and I have been seiged for 4 days straight now almost the entirety of raid time - like that’s 20 hrs!

That’s not a good idea. People can easily abuse it by having separate accounts in different clans.

Indeed, raid time would need to be 24/7 to compensate.

If they take everything they need out an use the alt its not much different than using BVs or hidden spots, in theory. If the run out they’d need to log in to main, effectively re-enabling raid on them.

To be honest, 30 minutes is enough to enter any base right now. Even 10 minutes is enough. With battle ram glitch (which is still not patched for some reason) or having an Avatar 99% ready on pause, you can wipe the enemy or do a significant destruction in no time. Therefore, i don’t see any point in adding DBD on official servers. 5 hour raid window is fine, maybe reduce to 4 hours can also be good, but definitely not less than that.

So because bases can be raided in a fairly short amount of time, or because players can loophole with alts, then this is enough to completely disregard DBD, as if the current system isn’t riddled with flaws, or as if the very things you listed aren’t even more prevalent with the current system? I fail to see the logic here.

The current system is a very unhealthy and toxic one that just promotes offline raiding while constantly pressuring players to be on every single day for multiple hours during the ENTIRE RAID WINDOW, which many simply cannot do, or it causes quick burnout for the ones that can. Even if raid times were reduced down to say 3 hours, that’s still a large degree of time.

DBD solves a lot of issues. It might introduce new ones, but that’s a risk worth taking, and if players are dedicated enough to purchase multiple accounts to loophole this, then more power to them. Then like Kiki mentioned with 24/7 raiding, it still doesn’t keep them entirely safe, and like you mentioned, 30 mins is still plenty of time to do damage.

If it’d become necessary, the devs just might have to include some clever tools to limit these loopholes, such as doing checks on how long players are actually being logged in to guess whether alts are likely being used. If players aren’t logged in long enough, such as hopping on for only 5-10 mins to refresh decay, or in order to transfer materials to alts, their base loses DBD protection for a time.

It’s not perfect, but let’s not pretend the current one is the only workable solution.

If you are solo or small clan player, you have to play smart, making stashes, bodyvaults or moving loot from one spot to another. Big clans have no problem with being online. If you don’t like offline raiding or you are not capable of saving your stuff while you are offline, consider playing private servers that do not allow offline raiding.

By the way, it’s actually funcom who promotes offline raiding. They removed avatar protection and nerfed thralls to the ground. Back in a day a base like Gutter could hold offline for at least an hour till they reach the thrall pit and kill all the defensive thralls.

There are many reasons why DBD is a great solution to many problems. It’s not even just about offline raiding, but even if that were one of the primary reasons, DBD reduces it drastically. It doesn’t eliminate it completely, but that’s impossible to solve.

24/7 DBD:

  1. Benefits smaller/solo clans who cannot always be online during prime hours. This bridges the gap with larger clans as larger clans would be more susceptible to raiding since they’d be much more chronically online. If clans use alts, it complicates things a little, but doesn’t completely eliminate susceptibility, and like above, the devs just might need to include some clever tools and checks.
  2. Lessens offline raiding dramatically. While body vaulting, making stashes, and having multiple spots are all fine and dandy, it is still much more preferred to actually be online during hits. The current system makes these a requirement, whereas DBD would make them much more of a strong suggestion.
  3. Players are much less pressured to be online constantly, which also helps prevent burnout. Also, telling players to just “play on a private server” is a fairly poor, and frankly unwanted, opinion/solution, as private servers have their own problems, which is the entire reason so many of us still play Official.
  4. Similar to point 1, players who aren’t able to be online as much would not quite be as “disadvantaged.” Currently, players who have ample time have significantly more resources, weapons/armor, buildings, thralls, etc. While they still would, those players would also be susceptible to raiding much more often, so it evens out a bit more.
  5. Benefits players with “odd” schedules.
  6. With the current hidden log, it becomes significantly less of an issue since players will most likely be around when hits on them take place. The current system frustrates many players since they don’t even know who to retaliate against considering how susceptible to offline raiding they are.
  7. Similar to above, actual PvP is much more likely to happen since the only time you can hit someone is when they’re online, or very shortly after.

I’m sure there are even more reasons that I could add to this list, but these are just at the top of my head. The current raid window might be preferred to some, but that doesn’t make it healthier, or better.

Whatbif DBD worked like this…

if you log in, you start a raid window of 90 minutes. Once you hit 90 minutes of play time dbd kicks in as normal, 30 minutes after theblogin timer hits 0. So if you log in and play less than 90 minutes, your base still has a unprotected ticker counting down to the 90 minutes (play 1 hour, then still 30 minutes before dbd starts the 30 minute timer). So in essence you log in only to refresh or transfer main loot to alt (which now has a 90 minute timer) you open up a full 2 hours to be raided. Hope that makes sense.

You have major flaws in your logic. Each server is tied to a certain regions time zone for raid hours. What works for the “asian community” does not work for the rest of the population. Almost all survival games have 24/7 raid hours, conan is already extremely limited on raid hours. Since you keep getting hit by siege try building 4x4 or a bit more t3 foundation towers around your base where trebs and ballista would be the most likely to be used.

Bro, I don’t know where you’re from, but I’m glad you have so much time to waste on this game.

Thanks! I’ve already found a PVE-C server and started fresh.

Having to be online all the time is honestly miserable and full of anxiety. It feels like all my time and mental energy are just getting drained by it.

I completely agree with your post. You basically spoke my mind.
