I’d prefer book gathering for that matter.
New Dawn has people grinding to corn to achieve enlightenment… it’s totally mindless gathering for a greater reward! 
You’ll always get people saying that because the corn side mission and the 1000 point achievement are Funcom absolutely begging for people to say it. Might want to not get annoyed over people actually cracking a joke the developers put in.
Good news, the game has Lores that you can gather if you want.
But I already have 100% and need more! Also I’d actually prefer it would look like books and not flying shiny cubes (am I in arcade?!). Or at least having both.
Well the lores aint books or scrolles though that your character come a cross. They indicate an instance where the buzzing communicates with you or John in the case of black lore

If it is for the encyclopedia feature it can have a book symbol, so it can be differientiated from your normal lore. Good idea 
I just chose words where everyone would know what I meant. I don’t really care about how the little knowledge snippet looks or is called.
