I think it would be wonderful if we could paint our buildings in different colors.

This is a very good suggestion but Modders already tried this without being successful. It is not possible. CE is not like Ark.

quite a bit actually… may not have been “advanced” but it does last a long time…

Cave paintings (check). War paint (check). Painting your house? Humm…
You can add a coloured glow to your walls by using dyed radium gem wall torches… but it can be tedious… and you need a lot of them.
