The Action Key indicators in the lower right get stuck in Building Mode

My screen has been stuck on key / mouse tooltips appropriate for building mode, for over a half hour.
Something glitched while trying to build (other than block placement).
No matter what object I equip, the screen will not show me relevant tips for my current object.

For example, I could equip a weapon - the game should show me Attack, Offhand Attack, etc. It does not.

All I see is:

Rotate Counterclockwise
Rotate Clockwise
Place
Exit building mode

Steps to reproduce (if possible):

  1. Enter building mode, placing one of (foundations, fence foundation, or wall)
  2. Encounter failure to build or some other blocking activity, that causes GUI corruption
  3. Observe the lower right of the screen being stuck on Building Key Tips
