It is not new that players face problems with the new age of war purge mechanics, as soon as it was launched, malicious players began to exploit flaws, such as invoking the purge and enemies attacking slaves who were outside the buildings, soon after it was introduced demolitionists and Golems, which then the purge was completely broken, ruining the gameplay of peaceful players and giving space for malicious players to join the PVE mode, thus causing the company itself to lose audience, the The age of war purge must be modified and have some specific locations to be evoked, similar to the pit of the macabre on the Isle of Siptah, so players were no longer able to take advantage of the failure to harm others, and of course the old purge must return as the proposals are completely different, the Age of war chapter has already been written, such as the removal of El Meraya castle, the new purge must be modified or the old one returned, as the new purge is literally ending the game.
unfortunately there will always be players that are trying to be trolls and grifters. And it is very difficult to foresee what and how they manipulate content/mechanics to troll and grift.
Stygian invasion was a cool concept but the execution was done without testing or consulting the community.
I for one, didnât like the randomness and the trigger of the old purge. Yet gameplay and mechanic of how they stormed your base was good. Though what it led to was bases on mountaintops, almost exclusively. So even the old purge was âmehâ, imho.
The new one has a cool trigger, but the gameplay is âno thanksâ. Wave after wave of cannonfodder to crash the server.
My idea of a good purge mechanic would be an encirclement of your base, with a fixed number of enemies with siege equipment, that you have to clear. I donât like the endless spawn mechanic.
The same can be done with El Meraya: An event, similar to the ones already happening in the game, where instead of the Dogs of the Desert encampment you have Stygians on the plateau in tents with a 3 skull leader to defeat in the middle.
Or even an event like headhunting or savage hunt, where groups of Stygians spawn in, and attack you and their small encampments are at fixed positions on the map where you can fight them. Conan hands out rewards for their heads.
the new and the old purge are very similar, the difference from the old one was that you had to play a lot for it to fill the purple purge bar and so depending on the region you are located, different enemies came, the new purge should be an implement not a new purge, because the old one only came and after a long time another one would appear, the new one the players have free will to do one after the other and even cancel, as you said troll players there will be anywhere I agree, but the company cannot give such a huge margin of failure for them, funcom has known about this for a long time and nothing has been done, while the trolls are having fun, their PVE community that supports Conan is becoming more and more irritated with this and abandoning the game and migrating to other games, I believe that this is not difficult to resolve, if funcom removes the Golems and the demolishers it will improve by 70%, as the troll players use them in particular to do âPVE raidsâ, by eliminating this we will have a huge advancement, the new purge must not be done with free will, it must have a limit, or even as you said a specific location or perhaps by another means
The old purge was an annoyance while the new purge is voluntary and in me and my friends opinion great. When I say that we found it great doesnât mean that I in any way support it being used to grief others, I was simply unaware that it was used in such a way. We exclusively play PvP and the vendor allows us another way to gain âfirepowerâ for gold coins aswell as thralls. But more importantly itâs something we find quite fun to do.
Without demolishers and golems, you say, wouldnât it be too easy then?
I decided to chip in to say that some of us really like the current purge, in hopes that it can be fixed for you without resorting to ruining the experience for us that thoroughly enjoy it as it is. Personally I do not see why you would want to âraidâ on a PvE-server.
Basically the people who opt to âraidâ on PVE servers are failed PVPers. The same people who use cheats and exploits on PVP to âwin at any costâ and have a psychology of only being able to enjoy the game if they are taking enjoyment away from others, now extend that same loser mentality to PVE and try to destroy other playersâ bases there as well. They exploit flawed mechanics from the newer purge system in order to be able to trick it into destroying the base of someone else (who is usually offline at the time). That is the only âwhyâ that I am aware of - pathetic trolls who couldnât make it on PVP servers so wish to expand their misery to PVE.
