Yet, these are psychological tricks. They don’t work if a person analyzes them rationally. A person doesn’t think, “Oh my God, if I don’t buy this item now, I might never have it again! So, I can’t miss this opportunity!” They simply get hit by an irrational buying impulse, and before they know it, their Crom coins are gone. There are several tricks and various strategies at play.

If people thought rationally, they would simply come to the conclusion: “I don’t want to buy now. If when I want to buy, Funcom isn’t selling anymore, it’s Funcom’s loss as they’ll miss out on my money, and I’ll spend it on something else, given the vast and active gaming market. Moreover, among my life priorities, a cosmetic pack for one of my games is quite low on the scoring scale. So, the one who should be concerned about the item leaving in x days is Funcom, not me.”

I get your point because I’m someone who rarely buys on impulse. But if that’s your case too, believe me, we’re the exception.
