It can return but with changes
So, as we all know server transfers are currently disabled on Officials. And it’s good! At least, for those like me who plays on PvP Officials only. Transfers in their original design were horrible, allowing large clans to use empty servers to farm thousands of dragonpowder and dozens of god tokens, then transfer all of that at once and to wipe servers in an evening.
We don’t want the return of that. But… it doesn’t mean that server transfers can’t return in a better, more interesting shape.
So, how about this - how about we kill two birds with one stone? Bring back server transfers in a more acceptable form, and also solve the issue of pointlessness of the main quest in Exiled lands map.
The idea
Here is what i came up with. How about making server transfer an in-game reward. To activate the server transfer the player has to finish a complicated quest. in the end of it, they’d be stripped of all of their belongings (That’s right, no loot follows the character) and would be allowed to transfer to another server, using same rules as before, possibly even expanded (officials - officials / custom - custom)
On Exiled lands map finishing the main quest line, aka escaping the Exiled lands, could serve the condition for this reward. It’s appropriate too thematically, giving this quest an actual value, instead of… you know, just deleting your character.
On Siptah there is no questline like this, but it’s not needed. The condition could be to simply show up to a specific place, maybe a dock with a special boat, which is able to escape the isle. To activate it the character has to have full collection of Great vault sigils on them at the same time. Similar to Exiled lands quest, this would ensure that the character has to run through all dungeons and collect specific items.
Making server transfer a quest reward would not only give value to these PvE activities, but also create extra interaction between players in PvP. Quest items would become actually valuable to either gather or to take away from others.
Currently they’re just thrown away (Unless the person plays for the first time), despite their supposed story value.
What do you think?
