It can return but with changes
So, as we all know server transfers are currently disabled on Officials. And it’s good! At least, for those like me who plays on PvP Officials only. Transfers in their original design were horrible, allowing large clans to use empty servers to farm thousands of dragonpowder and dozens of god tokens, then transfer all of that at once and to wipe servers in an evening.

We don’t want the return of that. But… it doesn’t mean that server transfers can’t return in a better, more interesting shape.
So, how about this - how about we kill two birds with one stone? Bring back server transfers in a more acceptable form, and also solve the issue of pointlessness of the main quest in Exiled lands map.

The idea
Here is what i came up with. How about making server transfer an in-game reward. To activate the server transfer the player has to finish a complicated quest. in the end of it, they’d be stripped of all of their belongings (That’s right, no loot follows the character) and would be allowed to transfer to another server, using same rules as before, possibly even expanded (officials - officials / custom - custom)

On Exiled lands map finishing the main quest line, aka escaping the Exiled lands, could serve the condition for this reward. It’s appropriate too thematically, giving this quest an actual value, instead of… you know, just deleting your character.

On Siptah there is no questline like this, but it’s not needed. The condition could be to simply show up to a specific place, maybe a dock with a special boat, which is able to escape the isle. To activate it the character has to have full collection of Great vault sigils on them at the same time. Similar to Exiled lands quest, this would ensure that the character has to run through all dungeons and collect specific items.

Making server transfer a quest reward would not only give value to these PvE activities, but also create extra interaction between players in PvP. Quest items would become actually valuable to either gather or to take away from others.
Currently they’re just thrown away (Unless the person plays for the first time), despite their supposed story value.

What do you think?

I can agree to some of the things, but definitely not the full suggestion you got there
First of all, there are people who want to move to a different server for other reasons than running away with pvp loot.
Some may not feel at home on a specific server, they could also have friends on a different server they want to play with, others may use it to go on a sort of exploration trip from EL to Siptah or the other way around, there could be lots of reasons, but your suggestion would only make it very hard for some people.

In my opinion, it could be very simple:

  1. Make Siptah(only the map) available for all players.

  2. Pair servers so that each EL map has a Siptah connected server for free travel between them.

  3. Keep the character transfer and expand it so that you can move freely between official servers and types(pve, pve-c & pvp), but you cannot bring anything but your character… Butt naked.

Maybe I am overlooking something, but a simple system that would prevent people from looting other servers and run away with the loot + It would connect the 2 maps so that you can explore both of them when you feel like it, and for those that really don’t want to lose their character, but want to relocate to a different server - WinWin if you ask me

They need to get them to function properly first before changing anything about how they work.

I say they were working ok before the shut down. Except the part with items being transferred too

For 2 out of 3 people. Grats on not being the 1 out of 3 who had to make new characters and lost everything.

A quest that requires more effort to be able to transfer would be nice. imo, the current system feel cheap/effortless.

This will make some recipes pointless (ex. Eldarium based items for Siptah to EL) and people have already stockpiled tons of exclusive/advantage item, like 8 vaults of sigils,

To balance things out a bit for PvP, as many people have already suggested in the past, is a restriction for those explosives, god coins and all their related ingredients.

Well, I didn’t check myself, but I heard people were getting Eldarium from the special events on Exiledlands. So the recipes would still be useful.

And yes, to fix the damage already done at least one reset for all PvP officials is needed

@Palm523
Well it depends, the idea was to make it simple to move between Siptah and Exiles server that are attached with your inventory intact, but also give people the opportunity to move from a pve to a pve-c or pvp server of any choice, however this kind of move would be naked for the sake of pvp community, I believe that some people are more attached to their character with lots of recipes learned than the stuff they have gathered

Currently the rule is that you can only move one way between official servers, pvp → pve-c → pve and off course between same types, but you could never go the other way which I think a lot of players would like to, I know would love to do that, but the problem with free move between official servers is that it would need to be without anything because for pvp it would make a lot of people use low population servers as a fairly safe place to harvest, so at least for pvp it would need to be without loot.
However, how often do you transfer between same server types (siptah to siptah and EL to EL)?
My guess is very rarely, but we do like to take a trip from Siptah to EL and the other way, so an option to travel with full inventory and no or little cool down timer, that is where I think the idea of having paired servers so that if you live on a siptah server there will be a certain EL server that you can travel to with little or no cost
