You can use your gadget while on The Chrome Steed for the titular mission. This automatically dismounts you and fails the tier so you have to go back to the last checkpoint to get the bike again. This is pretty annoying if you accidentally trigger your gadget. The gadget slot should be disabled while on the bike.
