Uh huh. Scroll through hundreds and hundreds (and still growing) of icons looking for the one you want each and every time you need to build more walls, or anything else for that matter. Eventually realize it’s futile and resort to using the search bar, getting frustrated any time you don’t remember the exact name of whatever you’re searching for. Rearrange your hot bar for building and then do it again when your finished so you can put it back to normal.

v.s.

Equip hammer, select category and thing you want to build. Place it. Need more of something else you already built. Middle click and build. When finished, swap out the hammer for whatever you had in that hotbar slot before. And that’s it.

The new system is a significant improvement.

I forgot it gets rid of the search bar too another plus.

You just use the filter and search bar it was really easy don’t lie

So you’re telling me having to equip a hammer press f look for an icon in a menu is easier than having to type everytime I want to find a new building piece not to mention you also had to search for benches not just buildings.

I can appreciate the utility for creatives, but in any sort of pvp environment, running around with a fat load of mats to build a structure is not practical, things are prepped to be deployed in advance, or stored on thralls /mounts.

Another element of this new system which is frustrating is decorations>containers>box - again if you want to pick up a box (accessible by all players not dlc unique) it turns the item into mats. Completely impractical for prepping for raids or even the new in game events.

I thought I brought a sleeping roll, box for loot and non combat gear - but no I brought wood and fiber and skins and sticks. Lame.

Please leave these crafted basic items in tact and do not dematerialize them.

Sounds like I’ll need keep to bearer thralls on follow whenever I intend to do some building. :face_vomiting:

To make everyone buy all the DLCs since you can’t carry constructed items anymore. Now removing an item converts it back to raw materials.

This should not apply to any basic placeables that are accessible to all players.

what are you talking about I just used the “house” filter and that’s it. You guys don’t realise how much of hardcore player are you

And when you use the “house” filter, what do you get? Every single building piece you can possibly build. A list consisting of over 250 individual items, and that’s only things like walls, foundations and ceilings. I don’t remember if things like crafting stations or decorative items were included.

On the other hand, with the new system, if I want to build a sandstone wall, I just click the sandstone category and I’m looking at about 20 icons. Much easier to find what I want.

I mean, the Hammer is baby simple.

Equip it.
R1 (LB) - menu to select something.
R3 while the reticle is over a piece - picks it up like a paint dropper to start using, no menu required
R2 (RB) - tap to use, hold to toggle place/remove

Down - swap between rotate/height/etc (hold to snap to terrain angle)
L2 R2 (LT RT) - rotate, raise/lower, etc

It’s a breeze to use. I just have to remember not to accidentally back out of it.

I agree, for consoles is really great.

PC can use a controller for the same results.
