The next chapter should be

The Improved quality of life chapter.

Every update adds new bugs most of which wont get resolved till the next update; if they aren’t a game crasher. If a bug is still in game by the third update after it’s introduction, welcome to the every increasing pile of legacy bugs. This has been going on since Conan exiles dropped. Now we have the battle pass and bazaar which just adds more bugged items with every chapter.

Yet funcom is full steam ahead and never looking back at the pile of broken content. Just stacking more broken content on broken content. And think we are going to pay these inflated prices for this broken content.

Funcom needs to take a break from making content after this chapter and put all hands on a massive QoL update to address all the build up, legacy bugs. And make sure everyone is on the same build so no old fixed bugs are accidentally reintroduce. Maybe the next chapter needs to be the Improved Quality of Life chapter?

Ya, I know, different departments. But the game needs all hands on deck for a good fix and polish.

What do I expect with Chapter 3 of the age of sorcery? You know the first 24 hours is going to be helter skelter. I expect disconnects, login issues, crashing issues, bugged new additions, and so on. I want to be excited for the new stuff, but been kicked in the shines too many times not expect anything else.

So, I expect to download a huge update tying up my internet for the day, then play 7D2D for a couple of days while the worst of it get sorted; and the mods on the server to get updated.

I used to look forward to the next DLC package. Bought them practically as soon as they dropped. Would go straight to single player to check it all out. But now I cringe at thought of the next chapter.

My biggest fear is I see Conan exiles going the way Defiance did. The devs just adding more and more to the game till it drowns under the weight of it’s own “events”. Suffocated by it own content.

beasts or merchants

Got it before the edit :stuck_out_tongue:

Not really a good comparison, Defiance was effectively dead several months after launch… it was only ‘saved’ by going free to play.

A big polish/bug hunt patch should be independent from a new chapter though, people want content as much as fixes and a drought can hurt it as much as bugs can.

The devs released it broken. Was released with a game stopping bug. Bunch of people got refunds. But the devs just kept adding new events with every new build so it ended up the game was nonstop fighting except around merchant camps. It was raiders, and factions, and aliens, and mutants, and robots, and zombies. And each addition came with new weapons, new armor, new vehicles; skins mostly.

Yes it aught to be a separate thing, but I think Funcom is putting so much developer time in to the next new chapter, that they are neglecting quality of game play.
I don’t need golems, I need not to push off ledges rather then pull up on to them.
I don’t need a fancy tree, I need my new friends not to drop throw the mesh.

I’m sure people can add to the list of fixes they would rather have over content.

Uh oh, someone forgor💀

But then you go on to say this.

What does this mean, Deacon? Do you expect the artists and animators to start fondling the code?

Do you have a construction project behind schedule so you make the uncertified painter operate the crane?

This isn’t possible. Artists, modelers, musicians, and all those other guys involved with making content for Conan Exiles need to be paid. Which means they need to work. If they’re not making content, they’re not getting work, which means they’re not being paid.

You’re basically asking Funcom to send these people home without pay. Which they can do, laying off employees is a thing. But there’s a few problems with this (outside of legal issues in various jurisdictions, we can assume the entire team is in the NC office for the time being).

First one is a major one. Without new content, there’s not any Battlepass or Bazaar stuff added. Which decreases revenue. We also have a 6 year old game here. I don’t think there are legions of potential buyers sitting on the buy button on whatever marketplace they visit waiting for the big bug patch. They’ve long moved on to newer games and everyone who’s bought into the game, has. New buyers are attracted by large content filled updates however. These updates have the added bonus of bringing back many old players as well who haven’t purchased stuff in months or years.

Second is problematic too. Lay off those people and they don’t just sit there watching netflix until they get the call to come back to work. They gotta eat and pay rent. They’re moving on. Which means getting content made to pay for the updates you want, isn’t feasible.

Doing what you want means no more updates. The game dies. If you want a stagnant game experience you have options. You can do a little google search and find a version of the game you want. It’ll be up to you to find them.

I know this is likely unacceptable because you want the entire community to be with you. People to play with, modders to make your mods, and server admins to host your experiences. But I’m sorry to say, we don’t want to play that game, mod that game, or host that game.

You say that like they aren’t already. Having done both you do have to work with code and that code has to fit the game engine.

No, but I bet he/she can scrape windows, pick up lumber, glue PVC, and swing a hammer. Lord knows I’ve done it all except operating the heavy machines.

Really? You mean it just doesn’t miracle up in game :eyes: wow.

I really have to question some peoples reading skills. Seems they assume far more then is actually written. Then toss up a bunch of strawman arguments to knock down. Just where did I say that?

The next chapter, not the entire game for the rest of it’s life. 1 chapter, 3 months maybe. And no reason to lay off content creators if they can’t help. They’ll need content for the season after.

So the entire community doesn’t want bug fixes? That is what I want, I want a smooth running game. I want content I pay for to actually work. So I guess it’s just me that wants this?

Seriously that is just paragraph after paragraph of arguments against something you created to argue against. Why would you do that?

For all you know

Are the guys making the content, probably the same guy/s. You’re making it sound like dozens of people when it may very well be 1 person.
I’m not asking funcom to send anyone one home I did say “all hands on deck” that is everyone.

I’m sorry but to me this just reading like a couple people handing Funcom an excuse not to put any more then the minimum amount of effort in to fixing anything; which is where we are now IMO. No wonder so much is broke and stays that way. I mean why put any extra effort in to fixing anything if people are going to defend it being broken?

Do you want legacy bugs fixed? Do you want all the new content bugs fixed? Do you want the new broken golems fixed; just assuming. Then someone is going to have to stop adding content, and spend time fixing the issues. Not sure why you all want to discourage that. I didn’t say stop making content, just stop adding it till the previous broken content is fixed.

Now some people may have grown numb to the bugs and issues, but believe me, every time an NPC I convince to be my friend drops throw the collusion mesh, I cuss. Every time I get to the top of a ledge and push off drawing my weapon and fall to my death, I cuss loud. I refuse to get used to bugs that affect my game play each and every day. And you know I ain’t going to stop gripping about them; or at least you aught to by now.

I’ve had the opportunity to interact with many of them through discussions mostly during Age of Sorcery’s beta. They are in fact several people with different jobs and talents. Not all of them can fix bugs. That’s just not their job to do so.

I’m just going to tell you what you want to hear. No I don’t. I want them to add more. All the bugs. Bugs that will cause platforms to explode in a fiery mess.

I’m a texture artiest, I can model, I have done animation. Not some thing I am up to doing for a living, but have done just for fun.
Animations can be tweaked, polished, worked, on. As can textures, and models. Everything has the possibility of being bugged, not just the game engine.

You didn’t have to admit it, your argument already said as much. But hey if you like playing broken games and paying for broken content I can see why Conan is your game and why you wouldn’t want it fixed.

But I personally love the game enough I want it to run smoother, and not stumble over legacy bugs every day.

This isn’t true. You want a dead game by wanting everyone sent home and the janitors to work on bug fixes.

Ya I know just what orifice you are pulling that from
