Dune is a cool first book (maybe 2 first books) and all the rest is somewhat boring.
The novels shape unique universum with some cool concepts - but the world itself is not described in detail. Funcom can literally do with this game anything, imagination is the limit. Also it’s not hardcore sci-fi, it’s rather a mix of sci-fi and fantasy like Star Wars, but a low fantasy, just like Conan is a low fantasy among fantasy genre.
There are some psionic powers and such, but no fireballs or force lightnings
I think it’s going to be a nice game, and we all know that Funcom is capable of making nice games.

All I have to say is, Dune better NOT have any Snow or Jungles.
comments like this makes me cringe… maybe u need a group hug?
The thing is that it’s not Funcom but their owner Tencent a Chinese company that you may want to research. Sure I fault FC for the lack of true development and expansion of the game but Battlepass and the store is all on Tencents head.

I am well aware that the battle pass and the bazaar are from Tencent. Unfortunately, this will kill a game that has enormous potential (if there was a new map like the lands of exile, the game would be restarted for 4 years). Unfortunately, and because Tencent are idiots, they are killing their goose that lays the golden eggs…

Conan Exiles is not their golden goose anymore . Dune is their new hero. CE is paying for that hero and the players by proxy are doing the same. Remember this treatment as it will keep repeating.
Yes but this was an issue long before Tencent bought their souls. FC hasn’t had proper Dev teams in a long time and have a history of mismanaging games using excuse after excuse. Just ask anyone who played Age of Conan. With a properly trained team they could have expanded this game a hundred times over. They are like the aliens from Independence Day but instead of planets it’s games.
I won’t be buying Dune as it’s ok as a movie and book but that’s it. Not as interesting as Star Wars or Star Trek. I suspect it will end along the same lines as Tabula Rasa.

I agree, the Dune universe is not really made for developing a survival game (even an adventure game doesn’t seem of much interest to me in this universe). The Conan universe license is much richer and fits perfectly with adventure and exploration, but Tencent and Funcom are going to ruin everything…
