This game is starting to tick me off ~ Live Service nonesense

This whole “Live Service” crap is just a excuse to leave things broken or unfixed/patched for months at a time. Seems like ever since Tencent bought Funcom the Bugs/Glitches have been worse! We’ve been getting Hotfixes to fix the bugs that appeared in a previous Hotfix… Game is a unstable mess, And the Server lobby is still broken/glitchy.

Not happy.

“STARTING”? to tick you off? I’m WAY beyond that - the game is unstable, unplayable - most of the time and they do NOTHING to really fix the problems - and you’re right - it’s a mess. Why would anyone with half a brain want to purchase it at this point?

Well, I both agree and disagree. The Devs do seem to be working hard on fixing bugs and glitches as they have been at it for a few years now (slowing squashing bugs and fixing problems when new ones pop up). Like you, however, I do wish there were more people fixing bugs and getting them squashed much quicker. It does seem to drag on and on and on and on . . . .

Like you, I don’t like the “live services” approach; it doesn’t seem to be working out very well. As a security measure to catch cheating and piracy, I can appreciate the idea. But as a practical implementation, it seems to cause more problems than it fixes. So like you, I wish it was scrapped as well.

I’ve been having troubles hosting my server since this crap started… now it takes over a minute to log in and apparently I can’t do it anymore from the same computer I’m hosting. I need to shut down the server, launch the game so this live service won’t go all stupid and let me login, and then launch the server after… so every time I want to open the game I have to restart the server. Man would I just loose my job if I let any of this mess roll into production… guess just different standards.

Yep. And you’ve hit the nail on the head there: new bugs keep popping up with new updates. Every major update brings new major bugs or regressions of old major bugs.

The big difference is that they used to be bugs that didn’t affect so many people. But since this Funcom Live Service affects the lobby and connection to servers, it’s much more visible.

TL;DR: QA problems are an old story, but people are starting to notice.

Come to think of it, it’s kinda like “The Lord of the Rings” gaining mass-market popularity because of the movie adaptation

Test the patch for a month before releasing it… DOne.

If only it was that simple.

I’m sure even the devs would just LOVE to be able to push out a patch that had absolutely no bugs – not one single bug or glitch – no matter what age a person’s computer was, what edition of graphics driver was being used, what platform it used, what internet connection they had, and even matched perfectly every line of code ever written at any time in the years of the game’s development.

I’m not sure quality can be defined as a binary choice between “zero bugs” and “Chernobyl”

Anybody know why the ping has gone crazy?

It just seems as of late the bugs/glitches have been effecting me in areas they were a few months before.

Wow what an original and educated opinion.

Them reworking their entire server framework to pave way for expanding play to platforms beyond steam is clearly just an excuse ruin your happiness by planned server outages; because they are monsters who feed off destroying the joy of people. Clearly tencent is the reptilian alien overlords who only bought the game to harvest the souls of angsty gamers and are intentionally running the game into the ground to harness more power before turning to global domination and baby eating. The server-outager machine in their basement is clearly powered by a giant blender they stuff children into just to personally crush your joy and happiness.

This is a ridiculous mindset.

What do you think the TestLive client is for? Also, there is another issue here, the PC version is the only one with a TestLive client, yet almost every time new bugs arise, there will be bugs that only affect the PC version of the game as well as bugs that only affect consoles, making finding and squashing all of these bugs a headache, as fixing them on one platform could break something on another.

not necessarily, but maybe fix the major or balancing issues that get found before releasing.
