The biggest bonus from having enough stamina (from grit or gear) to combo + then roll is animation canceling. It’s easier to reposition or reset a missed attack especially for a weapon like hammer. Due to certain enemies receiving pretty large armor boosts moderate armor pen weapons feel the same that they do on live, but something like the 2h hammer ends those fights fast, for non bosses in 2 hits. 2h hammer still doesn’t have an easy HA attack chain to land, but like I said you can roll out of a missed attack and by the time you line up your next attack you are at full stam, same for 2h sword and katana.
It still isn’t clear if stamina exhaustion delay is supposed to be scaling hard with armor class/max stam so heavy armor + 2h weapon is not a fun combo when it is running out, there can be almost a 2 second delay where as light armor with moderate stam has .5-.8 second delay on exhaustion which is more likely for the heavy armor user due to increased roll cost. Some full 2h weapon HA chains cost over 140 stam and heavy armor dodge is 50 stam so do the math there on how easy it is to be exhausted.
