Thrall question

Ok so this is new, whats better 2 thralls or one?
the message said that they do not get my bonuses?

I noticed my current thrall did considerably less damage on our first fight

so I guess is 2 thralls a good choice?

Benefits of War Party:

  • More stagger
  • More stacking of DoTs and Debuffs, e. g. give one a bleeding, one a poison weapon
  • Dividing the attention of enemies*
  • You level both at the same time.

Disadvantages:

  • “Follower damage” on armor does not affect your thralls any more
  • Same for your authority attribute
  • You have two idiots following you potentially blocking your path
  • You need to find, equip and care for two followers
  • You do not get the +20 attribute buff instead

Personally, I prefer War Party. Damage-wise, it’s more or less the same. But there seems to be less risk of having your level 20 Cimmerian Berserker staggered to death by e. g. two spear-wielding Fighter I Exiles. One of your thralls may get stunlocked, but the other is likely to escape the pokey-poke-dance-of-death.

*It’s easy when attacker mob groups, as they both tend to draw aggro from separate enemies.
With bosses or single enemies, it’s quite a challenge. With lots of micro management, you can make them attack bosses from different sides. That makes the boss switch aggro from to the other occasionally, massively increasing their tanking potential. Sadly, it requires a lot effort to manage that, as they like to just charge at the enemy from the same side, resulting in them both getting hit by the same attacks.

It is very difficult to control two slaves, they usually hit together, sometimes not, but it is rare, you need to be marking the place where to direct them and wait for one to turn around before the other to get them separated, go there, come back, attack… give them weapons of different range, spear and mace, long sword and axe… while you run through the lands of exile, it is entertaining, against groups of NPCs in small camps, it is entertaining, in camps with many enemies… it is no longer entertaining and you have to be careful, against bosses it is, instead of relaxing or entertaining, desperate, you have to be marking the place where to direct them, leave them standing and hit the enemy a lot, if you have chosen that your slaves heal each time you hit.
Well, I suppose it is balanced so that it is a little complicated, not very easy… years ago with a slave you could smoke a cigarette and have a coffee while the super minion finished off all the dungeon…that’s not the plan.
Anyway, with two slaves of 15-20 level, a good suit, good weapons and with 3000-5000 health you can pass the dungeons.

I’m a fan of War Party for leveling and Well-Trained for adventuring. I think if you ask everyone here, everyone will have a different preference. They both are good for different reasons. I like being in the fray and two thralls can be a bit annoying to deal with. I prefer one beefy thrall to help me do my dirty work.

Forgot something:

You can disable the irritate ability in a thrall’s inventory screen. If you have two thralls, you can disable it on one. The other one will tank.

That can allow you to use weaker thralls, and it may increase the total DPS of your thralls. One thralls with +20 attributes is fine and all, but against enemies that stagger a lot, the thrall won’t do much damage.

It should also you to utilize the great stagger potential of spears. Thralls with spears tend to get into trouble, but if you have one tank, and the other deal damage and stagger with a spear, you should have a good combo.

All theory crafting, so try it out yourself.

I will try to give you easier options so your decision will be easier.

If you are new player and do not know the battle mechanics or the dangers of the map, then “well trained” is your go to.
Your thrall will do most of the job keeping you both alive, but carry a shield with you to help it a bit and try to add negative status to your opponents.
If you learn the game a bit, you have end game gear both for you and your thralls and above all you know what to avoid, then war party why not, but still don’t be fool, nothing is as efficient as you, don’t go in all the battles with war party.

If you learn the battle mechanics of all the opponents, learn all the map and all the bosses, forget authority builds, they are simply huge delay and babysitting. Take two camels and sweep the map alone, it’s way faster and more efficient than 10 thralls!
We are beasts!

I’m 7 year noob. :face_holding_back_tears:

Nope, your case is different. You and many other players have mastered the authority build but not before lost many to learn to do it flawless!
There are people fighting rockslide or Arena champion with thralls. But they know every single detail before they do this action.
So no, you’re not a noob brother, you’re a veteran Commander!
