That’s currently true, but there’s no reason why it has to be true and no reason preventing FunCom from fixing it.

There are two solutions that come to mind:

  1. Create two different categories of no-build areas, one category for super-important core areas like Sepermeru & New Asagarth, and a second category for “extra” no build areas.

-or-

  1. they could treat each no-build area as being individual with a list of check boxes for the server owner to allow or disallow building on each specific location.

There might be other solutions that people can think of, but no matter what solution is proposed it would require FunCom to implement the solution. But the fact remains, this is a problem that could be solved even if they add more no-build zones to Official servers.

I don’t think anyone is questioning that there are options but rather pointing out that the “make more areas no-build zones” with the current settings is not an acceptable solution without severely impacting private servers.

Sure, Funcom could add more no build zones AND code in additional settings so private server owners have more control, but now we’re asking for 2 things, not just 1.

True, we can now. This was in a time when we didnt have harvest perks, black blood tools and the gold was alot rarer. It was worth it to have a gold farm.

Considering how many threads there have been about one specific location, The Gutter, I disagree that it would be “severely impacting” private servers. It’s not like FC runs around dev wiping people for 20 different locations on the map, it would be adding one more no-build spot, that’s hardly “severe”.

The idea that it’s “2 things, not just 1” is pretty meaningless, lots of requests on these forum are requests for “more than one thing at a time”. What we’re asking for (and suggesting) are ways to improve the game for pretty much everyone (both Official and private). Talking about, and asking for, multiple things is simply something that happens on the forums every day.

Agreed but no one is changing their building style and so we get report meta verbiage because no one is willing to think outside the box of layers.

Except that this is not even remotely accurate. You are making an assumption that this is going to be an improvement for private servers, something that you have yet to prove. Furthermore you are also suggesting that this is somehow an improvement to solo players and co-op players, something that is literally impossible to prove. And lastly, as for official servers, of the the types, does this actually improve PvE servers? How about PvE-C servers? So, does this actually ONLY improve one type of official server in the end and therefor you feel justified to force this change upon EVERYONE ELSE because of this? That is the main argument that is being made, and why people like @heaven13 are saying that the devs would need to create a means to make this location a no build zone on some servers, and not on other servers, or on private servers or solo play / co-op play. That is a lot of development time being asked to be put in simply because of one subsection of players who cannot learn to build in this spot without breaking the ToS, and then cry about it afterwards.

These are all very popular places to ask for there to be no-build zones. And if some get added, I’m sure more will be requested.

  • The Gutter
  • The Crevice
  • Oasis of Nekhet
  • giant swathes of land around Al-Merayeh
  • Telith’s Island

Fair enough, so why are those locations popular to ask for? Do the GM’s wipe people’s bases in all of those locations because they don’t like it when people build there or are there other reasons?

Yep, the rare dream.

Also, even those have become toxic. Now with the ease of getting a hack amd alt accounts, losers in epic battles will inevitably call in the hacker revenge friend to get thier loot back and resource wipe thier enemy.
