Too much fighters and too much spears | Camps at Siptah

I like the Siptah map I really do, the camps have been a great addition to the map.

But after playing for months actively on the map I noticed almost every Stygian camp has a ton of fighters and archers.

The fighters usually have spears and most of the time you can’t lure just one they come with like 3-4 towards you with a few archers shooting on you in the distance…

All good, but when they attack you with this many spears and a little bit of lag (teleporting) they quickly perma stun lock you and its getting very annoying.

The most annoying part is they are thick as rocks and almost never stagger and even if you stagger them they sometimes just ignore it and hit you anyway (or their other friend just pokes and stagger you and your thrall).

The worst location where this happen is at “Bastard’s Stand” east tower.
It feels a bit like a wasted camp, there rarely any useful thrall to capture since 90 ish % is fighter or archer that just tries to piss you off.

Useless feedback in advance:

  • Yes I can bring a thrall that ignores my commands
  • Yes I can dodge and run out of stamina
  • Yes I can ignore the area but I decided to give my feedback
  • Yes I’m able to fight them, I rarely die, but this is not about skill its about annoyance

What I ask is:
Can we balance this location and may other locations as well on the map? It seems a bit like overkill with this many fighters and archers, where are the Stygian dancers for example? Never seen one in this huge camp (Bastard’s Stand).

We need better AI, owned thralls and human enemies (animals seems less buggy in my experience):
Can we focus more on AI? When you aggro thralls they usually run a way like a mile and then return to you… if you chase them even more will follow. Our thralls ignores commands way too much times, return function doesn’t work when this happens. They just get stuck or wait to get hit by enemies, they seem to be very broken at times (or like being slapped).

TLDR: Less fighters Bastard’s Stand (and probably other unbalanced locations as well), improve the AI, less stun lock.

I can make a video if needed…

This part I agree with completely. I’ve posted before about the stagger system being questionable but no one agrees so the thread went nowhere. Even with a mace npc’s seem to completely ignore being hit. Sure I could use daggers and spam attacks but I find it boring. It needs balancing for sure. Nothing worse than being in full heavy armour using even a two handed sword and having a dude in a butt cloth just ignore my hits and start wailing away whilst I’m mid combo. Worse too now that we get stuck in animations. I haven’t really noticed the excess of spear users but I haven’t had time to explore all of Siptah yet.

True the issue is far worse ever since the animation changes

It would be nice, to have a test server where all this things would be tested before release…
Wait…

Try bringing a shield with you to block their attacks. Preferably one that has reactive bleed. That way you can apply bleed while you use light attacks in between thier attack patterns to conserve stamina

I don’t own Siptah, but I’ve experienced those combat frustrations in the base game. Stun lock can make fighting more than one opponent boring and frustrating. I can’t seem to get it stagger to have much of an effect and sometimes it doesn’t work at all. Thralls ignore commands more often than not, often stand around with weapon sheathed while my character fights, and sometimes they fail to reliably attack after they have pulled their weapon out.

Yeah I have a shield and 30 points in grit but with this many attacks spamming me I run out of stamina quick (with grace potion and grit). Will try the bleed shield next time thanks for the tip, but this doesn’t take away some camps are kinda useless, the majority are archers and fighters but never ever have I seen even a named one.

Maces definitely have a huge window there they ignore stagger. I actually find my thralls to be more effective with maces for this simple fact.

The issue with stygians is they have too much hp or armor. Whatever the case might be, these stygians are very hard to kill. A T1 fighter is harder to kill than a T4 and that’s a problem.

Ahem

I’m right with you in terms of the variety of thralls in the camps. Technically though, they are based at the southern island, and there’s definitely much more variety over there.

With that being said, I don’t think Kraxus the Bastard would not have bought a few named dancers to his chambers… I mean cmon. They should add a named taskmaster too even, at least one, right in the middle of that camp.

Half the time I need to solo a camp since my thrall is lost or stuck somewhere
The other time the thrall I want to lure into a fight just run/teleport lag away and when I chase him more will follow and poke me with their sticks.

If i don’t chase him down he will return after I’m trying to fight another thrall.

That said its almost impossible to get yourself in a fight with only 1 or 2 thralls at once at Bastard’s Stand, you usually get 4-5 at once even when you use an arrow to get them to you.

Don’t get me wrong I like a challenge, but I don’t like to be annoyed in a stun lock position.

Think he hired only a bunch of T1-3 fighters and archers with spears lmao

Just a side note: the new lands seem to be unbalanced compared to the older part, I’ve been thrall hunting for weeks on the island and only 2 named ones I’ve seen (a cook and a alchemist). Been thrall hunting for a evening on the new lands and found 3 of them in the South camps (taskmaster, dancer and a cook).

It’s unbalanced on the left and right of the island as well. The Ashen Core is such a great place to find named thralls, the central tower is good too but the eastern islands are really weak.

I found more good Thralls there too, and yet others have said the opposite with the right side of the island being like downtown shopping(reasons) and the left being largely neglected and needing some love.

There’s another important advantage to the left side which is stone farming. Almost every stone is a 2-4 in one. I have a good video card yet the screen stutters most satisfyingly when I crumble some rock clusters. I actually enjoy farming there - especially compared to other areas where the rocks are mostly single yields and too often so obviously spaced evenly apart to the point of annoyance.

Here my Survival is 30 while using Oil of Bounty which are easy to craft in bulk with the overabundance of fragments of power on this map.

I personally had higher T4 spawn success on the west side of the map. The camps are also less bottle necked, and less farmed. I hate the stygian camps for the very reason that every single one of them seems to be designed to trap you.
