I think FUNCOM needs to move in the direction of creating interesting activities.

Only very few people like grindy games, and the possibility to grind at one’s heart content is and will always be present in the game.

The beginning of the game, necessarily grindy, is an interesting and funny experience, the reason being the constant rewards the whole process delivers. We level up, create our build, become more capable and our structures/gear offer greater benefits.

After a while, keeping the same registry becomes boring and mostly unrewarded. From leveling thralls to gearing them up properly, all becomes stale. Gather this, gather that, in an endless loop, punctuated by the occasional dungeon adventuring.

There’s a point when most players feel like adventuring. They grinded their way there. It’s enough. More grind isn’t the solution. New activities are. Dungeons, events, the purge, etc., this is what most endgame players want, instead of losing dozens of hour just to craft the 100th piece of armor they crafted so many times before or leveling one more thrall through a tedious process.

Minor tasks need to be automated. Otherwise we fall in a sort of obsessive compulsive type of experience where we repeat the same things until we can’t do it any longer and go play other games.
