Its probably fair to say majority of people have rarely, if ever, actively tried to hit anything with a trebuchet. I’ve been using one for fun, blowing the new purge to pieces on their approch. Its great, until I need to adjust the firing angle.
Its a huge pain in the ar** having to cycle all the way up just to fire a couple of degrees closer. We recently had changes to Treb build times to encourage their usage; this should be done as well.
My personal suggestion: Interacting with the Angle Lever opens a wheel menu, with varying increments of + or - .
Dont understand what you cant do, was a long time i fired one but you can aime wher ever you like
I agree that due to the nature of the treb as it is now is difficult to work with. However that difficulty keeps it balanced. Allow me to clarify, currently the treb is the ONLY siege weapon in the game and when used is predominantly used in offense. It’s extreme lack of accuracy gives the defenders a fighting chance. That being said “IF” other forms of siege weapons were integrated into the game that were more defense focused then it would be fair to make the UI and accuracy of the treb easier to manage.
There are some that would argue that boiling cauldrons are a defensive siege weapon, however the area of effect is so small its virtually impossible to hit anything with them. If the area of initial effect, splash radius, dam over time, and spread over time was accurate to real life physics then they would qualify as a defensive siege weapon and not just a decoration like they are now.
To be honest for an age of “WAR” very few features added represent actual warfare. Here are a few things that would have made sense.
Offensive Siege Engines-
Ballistae, Battering ram, Deployable FOB, Siege tower (wheeled tower for assaulting over walls), Catapults.
Defensive Siege Engines-
Ballistae, Motes (Spiked or flaming), Spike traps, pendulum traps, poison dart traps, stationary catapults, and siege cauldrons (with improvements mentioned above).
But i think they are doing a rework in it, was suposed to come in this update but they say i was delayed. Whit all the new amotypes we got in the battlepass and so…
That is true, technically speaking.
However, practically speaking, explosives exist. And also Lightning Storm unless it got changed, been a moment since I did raiding PvP.
Yeah, an absolute joke in PvP. Might be decent against low-tier purges tho.
Well, purges got the nuclear battering sticks. So maybe players will get some eventually.
As cool as that would be, I don’t see that happening. Maybe pocket ladders.
Machicolations!
Buildable traps would be so awesome tho. High hopes for when we get to Age of Dungeoncrawling.

Honestly, I don’t think allowing quicker angle changes will make Trebs broken. I agree they could be made broken with some changes, but not this one. They’re inaccurate and cumbersome to aim in general, this would make them ever so slightly easier.
Would love them. I agree with Nerazmus on the towers though. If FC managed to make a wheeled battering ram I would think differently.
Would also love them. I will point out ballistae aren’t typically used for defence due to their size (basically the size of the Cart in game) A “Scorpio” is a smaller version thats still got much more punch than a warbow.
Yeah not going to lie most of those ideas came from Mount and Blade Bannerlord and Indy Jones movies. I mean seriously look at the history of medieval Europe. The sieging of a castle or fortress would often take days or even weeks. And even if successful would result in a substantial reduction in troops and supplies. Is it to much to ask that raiding be an actual challenge since the PvE side of the game is boringly easy now.
And in some cases, years. If you have the time, starving the defending garrison is the safest option for your own dudes.
Well… if you want to go historical, most sieges didn’t really involve any sieging. Most of the time it was just camping outside the castle, hoping the folks inside surrender. Actual siege battles were quite rare.
