Trying to open my dev kit, but keeps saying error

I haven’t opened my dev kit in a while. I am getting a circular issue of logging in.
When i open the dev kiy it wants me to link an account. I choose steam. Go thru log in, and then it say s close window.

Then enter birthdate, choose link account and it says i do not have the credentials.
How do i get my epic account linked so i can use MY dev kit?

Just to confirm, are you attempting to open the DevKit via the EG launcher?

yes. I am using the shortcut I always used from desk top.
