Well, I’m personally okay with anything but leaving things as they are. Something really needs to be done with LS, and urgently.
I just watched one of the stalwarts of Oceania PVE Official servers try to do exactly that, over and over, different configurations and they still get out even with no exit and nothing to interact with outside. Unfortunately he just quit the server saying he’d had enough and we should grab his stuff when his base decays. @Funcom please stop killing your game - turn off Living Settlements on official servers NOW - it’s just one check box, Do it, PLEASE.
I’ve seen people on Official PVE (1951) saying the thralls are not being killed by NPCs - that they’re being killed after getting stuck on placeables/building pieces etc in their base and dying for no reason. Can anyone confirm they’ve actually seen this happen. I have lost a T4 Carpenter in last few days and cannot see how he would have gone anywhere near anything that’s capable of killing it, not with all the fighter thralls around and nothing stronger than a panther around. So exactly how are these thralls dying? Anyone able to prove what the cause was?
And thank you @Kikigirl for all the stuff you do, you’re amazing.
I just logged in to Official 1953 Oceania after playing on 1951 all morning. I’ve lost 1 T4 carpenter on 1951. I’ve lost TWELVE crafters, mostly named, on 1953 since I logged in last weekend. Most of them say “died.” One of them says “was killed by” my own character. How is that possible on PVE? Not “deleted” like some of the other low tier ones I got rid of, “killed by”.
If a thrall is killed by monsters or any other hostile NPC’s, the log says “Thrall was killed by XYZ”
That’s different from when the log says “Thrall died”, I believe.
See here:
I once saw a message saying that I killed my own Thrall. (:3 」∠ )
It’s weird, the deaths seem to happen while de-rendered or logged off. Other than being able to catch some going to 0,0,0.
Can’t say for sure, just like others have stated on that server, there appears to be good evidence it is due to pathing.
You’re welcome.
My camel mount “died”. Mounts have no pathing when set to Guard.
But it’s possible he “died” because of some other bug
If it helps with troubleshooting, I’ve noticed on one server that I recently joined and built a new well on, it re-enables thrall use every time I go out of render distance (just as @Kikigirl has described).
However, on a server I have played on for a longer time, I have a pre-existing well and disabled thrall use on it as soon as AoH was released. That well does not get re-enabled.
Everything is being used by thralls immediately after I’ve disabled it. I don’t have to go anywhere.
Disabling a station for thrall use just doesn’t work sometimes.
This one was attempting to renovate and move their furnace.
So we set the furnace to disable thrall use, we move the smelter to a nice chair nearby, move the furnace to do the renovations, and when this one turns back to move it to the new spot…
There’s the thrall, stirring the furnace.
It’s a nice idea for a feature
Just like most of Living Settlements.
Good concept, rubbish implementation.
I think if they can actually get the system to work without killing thralls, a better method of doing this would be to allow crafters to wander between work stations from dawn to dusk. Then use the tavern for a bit in the evening, then sleep. It would be far more consistent and realistic. Fallout 4 would do this with its settlers and it was cool because you knew where they’d would be at appropriate hours of the day. Beyond this, we should be able to toggle thralls to override their behavior as an emote or to not engage in the wandering system at all.
Yeah - the best version of this that I’ve had in the game was a mod (sadly now completely broken for singleplayer by LS - and the modder prefers to only fix for server use (they have every right to make that decision, but it’s a shame for me)) - it allowed setting routines for fighters etc so they could spend a set period of the day patrolling or training, another period at one of various pre-set ‘idling’ points and then a certain period of time sleeping (in their assigned bed). All with high degree of customisability. It was great and brought a ton of life to the base (at all hours, since each thrall (and pet) could be assigned differently), and was really the sort of thing I was hoping LS might introduce. Sadly not the result…
That was brilliant. Ya know, I would actually be all in on this “random deaths” thing if I walked into my base to find Iblis or Hyam or Anasteera’s legs sticking out the end of the Dismantling Bench, or Daya cooking her head in the furnace. That would be MEANINGFUL and dramatic/comedic. And give me a good reason to go get more thralls not for vengeance but so they too could be sawn in half at the carpenter’s bench etc.
Has anyone lost thralls on Siptah? I have lost no CRAFTING thralls on Siptah Official PVE but did have 2 fighter thralls “die” with no reason while I was logged off. Seems odd to lose crafters on both Exiled Lands maps I play on but nothing on SIptah so far. Yet to check for my Savage WIlds thralls.
I’ve lost 6 crafters on Siptah (private server) since LS dropped, including some after the patch.
Ya not sure what is going on there
Aye, for awhile was hemorrhaging 1d4/day.
It was extremely frustrating.
But it was only at the base under a bridge near the river beside the lost city of Xocholate.
Same. I just tried renovating today and every time I tried to move something, a thrall would start using it. Even when I placed him far away and beat him to it, he claimed the bench from a distance as soon as I set him down.
I found the best workaround was to have him follow me and then move it. Doing this over and over again for each bench was very annoying.
