Turn Off Living Settlements on Official Servers

, ,

When you do worse than Bugthesda, it means you realy, REALY messed up! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Fallout settlements could be pretty dope. Did you try the defense system that they released as CC content? It had some guardposts that were used by permanent guards (unlike the normal ones that were rotational), so we could have a mixed system. Workers would be at their post/activity and then went to sleep. Those in bars/restaurants would even stay later, the others going there after working hours, and then everyone went to sleep, except guards on those posts who would never leave.
You needed several stuff to keep them happy, like enough beds, water and food, music, clinics, music, etc. Mods, on console (!), made it even better.
Yeah, CE’s living settlements is a joke in comparison. Fallout 4 was probably their last great game, even with all the bugs.

Does it cost you resources?
Cus in Conan, besides some food in case of our active follower, thralls don’t cost us anything. Armor and weapons don’t break on them, they don’t need to eat or sleep or any of the LS stuff… You get the guy once and they’re fine forever. Until they get killed or just “die” these days, i guess.
At this point I wouldn’t be so surprised if developer said “Look dying is part of life. Go get more thralls”

But that’s beside the point. Maybe if crafters don’t have their needs sated, they should stop providing crafting bonuses, so they don’t just die, but rather are not useful until you keep the pot full of food and give them a bed and so on.

The lead designer said they didn’t want to turn Conan into a life sim. So they decided to go with a pure cosmetic system. I think it’s possible to have a sim-light version.

They feed on the resources produced by the settlement or that arrive via trade route.

I’ll have to fix my bug report to include this information

Question (for anyone still having thralls wander around on servers) - do they walk ridiculously slowly? Certainly they seem incredibly slow moving in singleplayer, I’m wondering if that’s another bug (in which case I’ll gather some video and make another report).

It is a bug, since AoH launch and I believe its both LS and tavern.

Ah, so it is across the board then, thanks. I’ll gather some video to add for reports  (Not the most important of the issues with LS, but as we always agree, it’s worth reporting everything  )

well, so far it seems that FC has taken their motto “nothing lasts forever” to a new level.

Personally I’m in more of a “maintenance” period at the moment and don’t really need the crafters (as I spend most of my game time playing the great KCD 2) , max for some new armor here and there when I want to equip a new thrall but for someone who started over and is actively playing this must be horrible.

what I’ve observed is that thralls preferentially interact with newly placed things
I placed the beds and when I came back a while later with the idea of placing them differently and there would be more space -they were full
I moved the production stations using the “move” option and when I wanted to put them somewhere else it didn’t work because the thrall immediately went to use them

There’s a set threshold of food grown via farming that is required. They don’t actually “eat.” It’s just a requirement value. Conan doesn’t have farming currently, so that wouldn’t be necessary.

I didn’t. I’ve bought a few things from it, but I was just fine on defense. That’s cool that they stay there, but they seemed fine for the most part for me. Sometimes I might make robots guards.

From that pack, the best were the surveilance cameras (you could remotely check other settlements) and the lure. You could activate it and have increasingly harder waves of enemies that you and the settlers would fight. I loved that shit, @jmk1999 ! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Mods allowed you to have vertibirds patrolling the area and fights were something else. I gotta play it again once I’m done with 7 days to die.

Yes! @Community daily reports come in from the player base. Players are confused, distraught and feeling hopeless against it.

Can we please disable the Living Settlements on Officials temporarily? Just until it is confirmed fixed? Your solo and private server players have options. The Official servers do not and suffer losing their hard earned, and in some cases, rare worker thralls. Please speak to us.

Yes please !
for me personally, only the t4 armourer is important. I had one at the start of LS , got up to 3 over the course of it thanks to being lucky at the cages and the pub.
3 armourers, what could possibly go wrong? Well the last one died 2 days ago so I can’t even fix my helmet and boots anymore (Redeemed legion)

for me personally this is not age of heroes but age of dead thralls and empty cages
(I really don’t understand that no one realized that on a 40 player server 30 cages that refresh once a day is just not enough)

Because this one uses chemical warfare for purges, an Alchemist is important.

But agreed that it’s all an unfortunate mess, especially when the concepts are so good.

Im giving up on official server, too many worker thralls dying, Disabling thrall use only lasts while you are online. When I log back on I have to run around disabling all thrall use on the benches ..again. Ive tried standing them on a table and setting them to emote a dance. They still die. I would prefer that this Living Settlement is turned off

yesterday I was making progress in my mind on how the disappearance was manifesting itself in me.
I was more or less calm for the first few months , there were a few disappearances but it was about a thrall a month
it got a bit worse with the invasion of new “builder” clans who love giant bases across half the sector.
but the carnage started after the hotfix , they started dying in large numbers

personally I suspect the fix about sitting on chairs , since then there are not just one but two thralls standing on chairs - or rather the second one is standing on the head of the first one

Since I put a pot of slave, filled, they come to eat but no more disappearance, and they help themselves, since there is some in their inventory. The most greedy bartender…

Yes, Please shutdown living settlements, until this bug is sorted.

The thing is though, we shouldn’t have to f**king do this.

Like @Nubee has pointed out, it looks like there’s a new bug where it shows you killed your thralls. Most of these appear to be happening while the player is disconnected.
