I’m trying to import my single player save files from CE legacy to CE Enhanced. However after importing the file and loading the save (Yes, the character info shows up in the save box) and briefly appearing to attempt to load the save, it goes to the starting screen instead.
Edit: I have noticed that while it does show the correct character in the box it shows 0d 0hrs 0m played. Which is obviously incorrect. It is a level 60 character and has several days played at least.
Edit 2: I tried another save and it worked. The previous save was pretty old so I’m thinking it has to do with the age of the save. I still would like to get it working again.
So long as the old save is not a Siptah save (that might get more complicated), it should be possible. I’m assuming that you want to keep the one you’ve already imported successfully?
If you go into the game and select the second box - ‘start new adventure’ - rather than the box to continue the save that you’ve managed to import. Skip through character creation, just to get through to the first steps in the world. This will create a couple of new files in your save game folder. Find ‘game_1.db’ and delete that (but leave the other files it created) (and don’t touch anything labelled ‘game_0.db’ because that’s the first character you imported), then take your old save file move it into the folder and rename it ‘game_1.db’. That should, with any luck, then allow you to start that save from the second box.
Unfortunately, if it doesn’t work, then the save file may, as you suggest, be too old (or somehow damaged). Arguably, it might be possible to repair it if you know enough about database editing, but I don’t know enough about that.
It’s also possible that it might be worth trying to see if this save file can still load in Legacy - though that would entail having to download Legacy again. (If you don’t want that to overwrite CEE - leading to you having to download that again afterwards - temporarily rename the main file folder. That way you can have both versions simultaneously.) It’s just maybe worth checking if the save works with Legacy becauee that would give a clearer guide to whether it even could work with CEE.
Thanks, this worked. I think maybe the reason it didn’t load is because it was a save that came before the last age update. Starting it in legacy and saving it brought it up to date and able to run in CEE.
Now I just have to decide whether or not I want to keep both versions of the game.
