So we know very little about this 3.0 update. But with the possibility of something being revealed today. Due to the clues, funcom has been dropping on Twitter.
What do you want to see in this update?
For me:
Sorcery just isn’t enough of an update this is touted as the biggest update yet!
We need rid of these hackers! (officials are a lot of fun until you come across hackers)
Rebuild & Update the original map! (maybe build it on the new unreal engine and expand the map)
These are the main things for me I want to see the original map grow I know there are issues expanding it currently hence why it hasn’t been done but there would be ways around that. Sort the hacking out it’s a mess! These 2 would be huge for me. Make PVP offical fun again.
Ok so based on the remarably little any of us know, you are already speculating that it “isn’t enough to revive the game”. For one, the game is alive and well, otherwise why would they be investing time, money and resources into continuing to develop massive updates such as this. Honestly, just wait and read what the update has to offer before proclaiming that all is lost.
Almost all large scale updates have come packaged with a plethora of nerfs, rebalances, and often full reworks. I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest that the update will address some of the recurring PvP balance gripes, such as daggers, lances and feroxic weapons. Again Zakf782, just wait and see what it has to offer before throwing your hands up in the air and exclaiming ‘its hopeless’ before it even launches.
I agree that hackers should be banned…hard and permanently. However, this is where private servers show their strength yet again.
I never said it was hopeless I’m simply saying that Sorcery like everyone online is speculating it is. Isn’t enough to call it the “biggest update yet”. The game does get neglected whether you want to believe it or not. Funcom had a HUGE amount of investment put into it when the company was sold a few years back. Yet the updating of the game compared to other companies is super slow. This is one of my favorite survival-building games by the way if not the best. I just think it deserves a lot more.
Based on the lack of updating of the game I think yes this update could be HUGE! It has to be. Otherwise, it will be disappointing. Let’s see as you say.
Also, how can you say “the game is alive and well” When it down half its player base this year?
If I remember right Ark (which I dont like myself) and Conan came out around the same time.
Now the main reason Ark has 7-10x more player base is because of content there isn’t enough in Conan. Ark has a lot more content and more regular updates.
It’s crazy coz, Conan is such a better game when it comes to player movement, building & raiding etc.
And now they will be moving most of their resources to the new Dune survival game.
Unfortunately the game is dying and that’s not me being negative that’s not me even hating on the game coz I think it’s great. But it never reached its potential.
OK so you land claimed almost an entire grid square and admited you only used two for your base. Yeah this isn’t them being friends with admin (which I doubt and they could be feeding you a line of BS…because no friend would put another friend’s job in jeopardy like that) but about your land claim. If they claimed as much space as you, report them. You are using heresay as a means to condemn admin. What was the 12 day ban for? Obvioulsy you were talking with your aggressors, what specifically did you talk about and how heated was it?
IMHO, it sounds like you got a ToS enforcement for large land claim without purpose (which you already admited to but probably feel that it’s not that large…it is) and they goaded you with lies into saying stuff that was more threatening and/or vulgar and reported you for that.

Content wise, its because they’ve ALWAYS have had a bigger budget and team then Conan Exiles has ever had. They had over 60 employees working on the game in EARLY ACCESS. You know how many Conan had? 7. But its not like pesky facts ever got in the way of people’s narratives on this forum or anything.
Nope. Ark came out in June of 2015 in Early Access (though dev started in 2014). Conan Exiles began it’s Early Access in February 2017.

You are remembering wrong. Ark went early access 2014, live 2017. Conan went early access 2017, live 2018
It’s actually bigger because they had a 3 year head start, better marketing, and when CE came out they took digs at it for being a clone. They also have ported to every system including mobile, made several unsuccessful spinoffs, and have dinosaurs which are more marketable than a fantasy IP that’s been more or less dormant for 3+ decades.
Again, I would like to see a citation on that claim. Do you work for them? Do you personally know the inner workings of the studio?

That is a pretty disingenuous claim. Yes, exactly one year ago, it was 18k compared to 10k, which is sort of close to half, but we were also on a major peak one year ago. If you jump forward until the peak balances out in July 2021, you get 12k. Way lower than double today’s numbers.
No, the reason Ark has more players is because more people have heard of Ark and are already playing it. It is a feedback loop that all the most popular games benefit from.

10cent bought out funcom a few years back, maybe they didn’t have the development team at launch which is fine because at the start no one cares they are just enjoying the game and the content doesn’t need to come thick and fast. But when a few years go by and one of the biggest studios in the world buys up funcom more resources should have been made available to Conan. Your opinion is just your opinion like mine is mine you all want to defend the game I get that, the die-hard fans always will. Updates could have been better & more of them this is just facts changing engines yes it’s a huge undertaking and maybe the subject bores you but when you have the backing of a 500 billion dollar company things like that are possible you dont need to bring out new games these days just keep the one you have in a good state. How can you say the game isn’t dying when the player base is dropping and like I said halved since June last year…
So, just because you are part of a “$500B” company does not mean the money faucet turns on. You get investment based on potential to earn and current level of staffing. All of Tencent does not now belong to Funcom.
And well over a hundred minor updates in the same amount of time. People often don’t even notice these as there’s no announcement and no notes. It just happens… Something get’s fixed or changed, and boom there it is. You can find a list of these minor updates online if you look hard enough. Between the servers and the clients (yes, plural) the list just for the last short little while fills my 4k screen in single spaced 8 point font…
