I had previously shared my advice during a time where a hacker was causing significant grief on PC PVE and PVE-C Official servers in fall/winter of 2025. I’d like to reshare the advice with suggestions by the player community from the original post and update some tools as it would appear some of the same behaviour is being observed again.
As a PVP player who has thousands of hours on PC Officials, I’ve had my fair share of run-ins, wars and chase with hackers.
To be clear in this context a hacker is a person who has subscribed/obtained access to a third party injection program. This program allows them to do things like speed, ignore container ownership, detect ID markers and ignore building mesh, insta kill your followers, hit box pull to kill you from far away and in the past year has allowed them to wipe your knowledge to potentially brick your character.
A hacker is a cheater but not all cheaters are hackers, keep this in mind. Everyone has the ability to be a cheater via using exploits. Hackers use the program(s) and may use exploits if it is to their advantage.
The main points:
Shut your mouth
This is the most important part. No seriously, do not talk to the hacker. Do not use global to chat with them. Do not use voice to say anything. Do not tell them how upset you are. Do not tell them how unfair they are. Or that they are insert insult. Restrain yourself, even telling them you will report them, shut your mouth. Do not not even comment on others being affected. Zip it.
Why?
Because they enjoy your misery. They want a reaction. The more attention you give the more likely they will appear or reappear at your base, killing your thralls, emptying your chests, destroy your base or whatever current method of 3rd party injection they are using to make your playthrough unfun. If they’re particularly cruel, they will strip you of your knowledge and it will be difficult to bring it back if at all. This has caused players to lose all sorcery knowledge and it cannot be obtained again.
How to mitigate disappointment
• If they are frequently logging in and causing pain, dump your loot when the hacker(s) is offline, only keep the bare minimum on hand
• Consider a different server temporarily and monitor
• Be careful what you post in social spaces about the situation, there are many eyes watching
Why?
Because they need amusement. The more bodies, bases and loot there is, the more salt they can extract. While it isn’t your fault no matter what preceded it, you still give them relevance by providing the attention they crave, it doesn’t matter what kind.
This might be really hard to do for some, it’s not for everyone for sure. Denying via attention and content within the game is an excellent tactic. Just like ignoring a bully, doesn’t always work but sometimes it does.
While it is possible to reacquire the majority, I also realize that there are some things that have been collected from long past that cannot be reacquired. This advice is a choice.
This is what has worked for me and many others to, on occasion, avoid being in their path. It is not a guarantee as there are many instances where no one is safe. Chances are if you’ve played on a PC PVP Official, you are/were on a server with hackers even if they were only in the shadows. Intent, attention, revenge and entertainment are the driving factors.
Fighting Hackers
Unless you are experienced in fighting hackers or are learning to with experienced players, do not try. Do not even think of looting their corpse or body if you find it. Any trace of your involvement in their games is only fuel for their amusement, you being the butt of the joke.
How to properly report
• Record a video of the hacker cheating with nameplate visible, upload to Youtube or equivalent website as a hidden video that is only accessible with those you share the link with
• If a video is not possible, ensure that you write a detailed description of events, avoid conjecture, state FACTS, example: “My loot in locked large chests are missing, there are no logs to show what happened” also;
• Have a screenshot of either the nameplate or playerlist highlighting their name, FuncomID and clan name - the ID is most important
• If there are chats in global of admission then screenshot it or record it
• Head on over to Contact Us — Conan Exiles Help Center, select Report a Player for request type, input all of the info and submit
• You will receive an automated email, reply to it immediately and acknowledge that this issue requires review
• If there are additional occurrences, gather the proof and reply to the email and keep updating it - do not make another report for the same problem
• Be polite to the Helpdesk staff, writing a nasty report or responses in email can make things more difficult than they already are, treat them as if you were the one receiving the report
• If there is undeniable proof of hacking, encourage others on the server to also make reports. Do not talk about this while the hacker is online. Better in DMs elsewhere.
• If you are not sure who did it, do not assume, and contrary to popular opinion a 123#00000 or special character account is not indicative of a cheater
Private server admins
You are probably already well versed in means of security. But if you have not already consider passwording access and change it frequently.
General Security
I feel like this shouldn’t have to be mentioned but I’ve witnessed it enough: do not share your personal information on multiplayer games. Anyone could potentially gather your information in this way but consider that a person who is willing to spend money on a hack client to “win” for whatever reason, will also take the information you give them and could use it in nefarious ways.
Protect yourself, don’t share your whereabouts or phone number.
I do not say these things lightly. It is in no way to encourage, excuse or accept. I realize all this might sound hollow, maybe even tone deaf. But I know exactly what it is like. It is first and foremost the CE Team’s responsibility and as much as I believe there has been attempts to mitigate hacking, it is simply not enough.
It has affected PVP for years and is a HUGE reason why PC PVP population has dwindled. Private servers have always had to contend with it but they have active admins if they choose with means of squashing it immediately. The fact that PVE and PVE-C Officials being affected was only an eventuality.
Online gaming has always had this problem; FC’s games are not special in being targeted. However, in how gaming companies respond to the problem makes a difference. There are MANY games suffering but moderation, communication and action plans are the bare minimum; FC drops the ball in this regard.
