Using mods kills startup performance on non-SSD systems

Game mode: any
Type of issue: Performance
Server type: any
Region: any

Having multiple mods in the modlist on non-SSD systems criples initial startup times.

This might be a rather old issue, but I still want to bring it up (again).
I don’t know who thought it is good practice to validate all pak files at the same.
At least provide a command line option to validate pak files sequential.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. run the game of a conventional HDD.
  2. add some mods to the modlist
  3. restart the game
  4. watch as the game tries to read & validate all the pak files at once, killing any performance on a non-SSD.
