Vanir Hearth cannot create gruel

The Vanir Hearth cannot make gruel. I put the ingredients in and I add some wood but it doesn’t work.

That is correct. Only campfire class placeables cook gruel. The Vanir Hearth is a stove class item.

You will need to put down a campfire class placeable. This will be either the small/large campfire from game knowledge, or one of the DLC/Bazaar campfires.
