So they released a list of which servers are getting merged and out of curiosity i looked up mine in battle metrics only to find out that I’m being transferred from a german server to one in singapore. If i had waited out this update as planned it is very likely i would have lost access to my character entirely due to the ping restrictions officials server have.
If you are like me and had planned on just waiting out the update and rebuilding on siptah you might want to double check which server you are being sent to so this doesn’t potentially happen to you.
I remember awhile ago when looking at server locations in battlemetrics being very confused by the locations. Theres no way my ping would be so low if the server was in germany. So I used google to trace the IP and the server was indeed in Los Angeles CA, but the server provider was gportal.de, so battlemetrics listed germany as where it was when its not physically there. So then I knew battlemetrics server locations are all wrong. Both servers I play are west coast
You’re right I just tried it myself and 6442 definitely shows itself as being in California. 1746s IP shows up in Singapore. This is a worse scenario as Singapore is apparently closer to Germany than it is California by almost 2000 miles lol.
It’s also apparently also a completely dead server no one has even logged into in the past 3 months.
Just an fyi, if there’s a preferred server you’d rather go to, you can transfer to any available server not getting shut down or merged as well. You don’t have to feel confined to the designated server. You just have to transfer to it on your own. If you don’t transfer in time, the designated server is where you’ll be sent to.
Remember - any character you transfer to singleplayer is stuck in singleplayer. You can transfer ‘down’ the scale, but not ‘up’ it (Official PVP > Official PVE-C > Official PVE > Private Server > Singleplayer).
I also think battlemetrics info is very outdated. The other server I play on is listed on their site as dead and hanst been played in years. Yet Ive logged on it every week to refresh. They changed the server IP’s a while back and I just dont think they ever updated the list
It is important to note that this is about the Enhanced version of the game and not the console mergers that will be happening in console legacy platforms.
@Dana This is going to get very confusing, very quickly. Are you planning on separating out the two versions of the game on the forums and announcements? (Yes I recognize what that actually will mean and lead to but I don’t see another options available outside of getting the Enhanced on all other platforms. Open to suggestions of brilliance)
If people used the sub-sections more, and if other people then read which sub-section a thread was in, there wouldn’t be so much of a problem. But ‘if’ is doing a lot of lifting in that sentence.
I’d like to see the forums stay together - we’re scattered and divided enough without winding up completely separated. But you are entirely correct that something is going to have to be done. There are two separate sets of server merges going (in different ways, for different reasons) and two separate lists. There needs to be clear distinction between these sorts of things.
Honestly not sure. I feel like I may have seen a console list, but I could just be making that up from having seen the PC list offered a few times. If the console list hasn’t come out, then maybe I saw a post from Dana saying that it will come out in due course. So maybe there are two separate lists, or maybe it’s just that there will be, I’ve lost track…
Edit: So, I can’t find a direct announcement about the console servers yet. I probably imagined it. There is a second server list, but that’s the new PC servers (so list 1, PC merges, list 2 PC fresh servers). That’s probably what I mixed up in my brain. Sorry about the confusion. Hopefully we’ll get the console server merge list soon (or at least with decent time before the merges actually happen. My guess would be they’re probably holding off on that right now until they’ve got the CEE launch out of the way.)
