What if I wanted to roleplay an exiled lord, having a base/castle/township under his own and sending off heroes (Majesty 1 & 2-style) onto missions, instead of having to dirty my hands myself…?
If you know how to build your character and outfit your thrall and make sure they have food to heal with it’s not an issue. You can’t be as passive as before but good thralls definitely should not be dying unless you’re letting them face tank and be perma stunned.
Also want to point out that the thrall OP is talking about is part of the exiles faction of thralls, which is the absolute lowest tier of thrall faction in the game. The fact they were able to do anything prior to this update shows that they were too strong to begin with lol.
The game has changed and with quite a few things we won’t be able to do the same stuff we’ve been doing. Check your gear and look for the new stats like follower damage increase. There’s a couple sets that will give you an extra 50% follower damage increase and there’s foods that go further with an additional 12% etc. Gotta adapt!
I didn’t’ understand a word you just said. lol. However, I’d say that while there are RP servers, the game is NOT designed for role play. So that community must adapt to how the game is designed. Obviously, they’re good at that as they’ve been doing it all along.
Besides…Imagine how loyal your followers would be when they see that the King is willing to support his men and do what he commands his men to do.
Destiny is all !!
Most unfortunate that.
When they figure out how the broken property person coming off the wheel can be statted independently of the (in game) free willed combatant, it will be a happy day.
Also, it should put Bandits and certain other annoyances back on the list of potential new hires.
This one understands wanting to keep the named individuals as is, especially as some private server owners hand an Arena Champ or Giant Daughter out as a prize for some hosted events…
But seriously, bandit trash in Seperemu seems like perfect wheel fodder.
I dont think they factor in the way people hand out those thralls into the decision. My observation of how they approach it is that they take the vanilla experience and do what is feasible on a reasonable time and budget to work towards a vision of the vanilla experience and what people break on private servers or in solo is left to them. If changing the thrall bonuses and multipliers to a simpler/better system meant that the champ and ladagara couldnt be handed out by admins, my bet is they would make the change without a second thought.
This seems like the most likely occurrence in my opinion. It wouldnt be the first time that old thralls dont get the patch changes applied to them correctly.
Overall I like the idea of authority and player character needing to invest to being a commander for the thralls to be good…
Holy hell guys…after reading through the rest of this post I think I know why you’re so frustrated with the game…You’re not playing it. You’re doing calculations and figuring out this and that.
STOP. Just go out and enjoy the game. Thralls are an EASILY renewable resource. Put some crap armor on them and go help them fight. If they die…place down another one. I mean seriously…You’re killing the game for yourselves. Thralls and pets are cannon fodder. They die easily because they can be replaced easily. lol. I mean, we go through 20+ thralls each day due to a clan that is trying to grief us. lol. But we don’t care. We just place out another 20 and laugh. Plus it gives us something to do.
Stop calculating armor and weapon damage and trying to get all these crazy perks (though 3.0 has a reroll now) and just grab your damage magnets and enjoy.
I did some thrall testing. Full disclosure; For some time now, I have not taken a thrall with me me unless I was trying to level it.
However, I took a level 20 Frigga Falsehope with 3100 HP for basic fight testing. For these purposes, I did not do anything as stupid as fight a world boss. I did run into a pack of hyenas and climbed a tree to see what would happen.
Her settings - 15m Chase, 15m Attack, Attack all enemies.
I had zero points in Authority.
I did not tell her to attack, but she immediately began attacking.
She killed 6 hyenas, including 1 boss, and took almost 500 damage.
She had honey for food, ate it, and healed 2 HP per second.
So, not much of a change from before.
I then went after various other low level creatures (No need to get her killed against tougher opponents). I commanded her to attack, and she did. But, no matter what she did to them, I did not strike a single blow, and every single one did not aggro on her. They stayed focused on me just running around them in circles.
I had the same results with a Nordheimer III against wolves, bears, and Nordheimers.
Conclusion - Thralls will probably be fine, if you engage the enemy. World boss fights should be planned, and it’s not as if you just happen on them anyway. Honey is cheap and easy, and it works.
And, what exactly is the point of the passive health regen perk?
Ana has always been a trash tier thrall; this isnt supprising given how the changes work.
I had a little play last night, and actually prefer it, which makes me pleasantly surprised…
I’m not sure what’s changed I but I die less quick now , and yes I noticed my thralls health had been nerfed (not a fan of that , thanks --especially when I make the point and effort of feeding them the right food to get the right perks so their health actually improves )
But, all in in all, this feels a bit better balance-wise, at least from my perspective.
Now if only we can fix all the other hundreds of other issues,
For example; I’d love to actually be able to see my stairs instead of guessing where they are.
There’s your problem. She’s an exile thrall. Those are garbage. While she may have been viable before, the likelihood of her still being viable wasn’t very high with the blanket nerf. You need a proper cimmerian berserker, or similar, to remain relevant.
I’m not sure this is fair to say. Some thralls are exceptionally rare, and on PvE servers, many people are attached to their favorite thralls. I feel as though PvP players tend to forget the PvE mentality very easily and act sorta cynical towards it without giving it much thought. PvE players don’t have to typically deal with griefers killing their thralls, so to lose them so easily in a battle that was otherwise easier to survive can be very frustrating, especially if it’s one of your favorites.
Followers arent useless! Stop the lies and negativity!!!
Thralls are just fine. Big thanks to funcom! This update is a revolution for my fav game! Keep up the great work and relax in your well deserved weekend peeps!
Exceptionally Rare? lol What thrall is exceptionally rare? What thrall is that special that a level 3 fighter can’t do? None that I can find on the spawn list. They’re ALL just pieces of equipment that are easily replaced. I can’t stress enough how much more enjoyable this game has become since I’ve instilled in my team to NEVER get attached to anything and EVERYTHING is replaceable.
Have you tried farming unique thralls? Because I do. All the time. A dead Syra Brennerhet would make me rage. I already lost her once due to the server merger… I have been farming for her for months and STILL haven’t gotten her again. So yeah, there’s exceptionally rare thralls, my guy. You just don’t look at the game the same way PvE players do. All I see you’ve post thus far in all the topics are comments filled with mockery and cynical responses to people who don’t fit with your ideology of how the game should be played. It’s pretty pathetic. Not everyone will play the game the way you do, nor will anyone on a PvE server even consider it. Sure, thralls die from time to time, but they’re not always just fodder. I got fodder berserkers, but I also got a few that I really like for reasons like great perks or simply because they’re pretty.
I think nerfing horse hp is a bad thing. I have a serious problem in areas with different levels on siptah like the big cave with the gray one camp above or the judge with the bat boss above. My horses keep spawning on the wrong level and i cant even get the saddle back
Watch You Tubers Firespark81 and Wak4863, both of these guys have posted really inciteful tips on how to use the new thrall system effectively.
Seriously, you need to get out more. It’s a video game. Was that mockery? Nope, I’m serious. You need to put the controller down and go outside or something. Raging over a video game…anything. lol. But I’m the pathetic one.
The horses needed the nerf…I’d recommend always keeping one cooking to be safe. However, for each of these, I’d recommend placing your horse on “stop following” then go fight the bosses. If you die and can’t get back to them, they will return home. If you don’t, you won’t be away from them long enough for them to return home. AND…they won’t get injured by following you.
There should be a Cimmerian Berserker that looks like Ana. Capture, break, and rename the Berserker to Ana the Reaver. Way better stats to boot. I do this with Tessa the Blade. She was the first thrall I captured when I first started playing, so once she is leveled I go find Dalensia and rename her Tessa (breaking the bond with the old Exile Tessa of course)…
Lol!
