Except that Clark Ashton Smith’s Hyperborea is not the same as Howard’s Hyperborea. They both borrow the name from ancient Greek mythology of a far northern land, but Howard’s Hyperborea was a nation on the northern part of the Hyborian continent, whereas Smith’s Hyperborea was an island-continent.
Smith intentionally borrows elements from the Cthulhu Mythos, to the point that the Hyperborean Cycle (or at least some elements of it) can be considered part of the Mythos, but as far as I know, it has little connection to the Hyborian Age, except indirectly via the Mythos, which is more timeless and can interconnect many settings, including the early 20th century USA. That doesn’t mean that Funcom can throw Professor Armitage into Conan Exiles.
