I am currently playing on Siptah and got the recipe for Weapon Oils, so I wanted to try it out
I crafted an Oil of Bounty and attached it to an Eldarium Pickaxe, 2:40 minutes was all the durability it could be, guess it would have a high harvest rate so I picked a small 2 hit rock and I got 104 rocks from it, it is quite a bit more than what an Eldarium pickaxe with Adv. Tool upgrade that give 76 from a similar size rock, but 2 minutes and 40 seconds, how the heck does that justify the steep price for those oils, I mean come on?? :joy:

Time is dependent on durability. It may be more advantageous to apply it on a star metal tools since I believe they have roughly double durability.

I found that weapon oils do really good for high value resources such as Silverstone when combined with Careful Harvest

The oils are only situationally useful.
This one would not suggest them for farming of base materials, but rather for limited runs to try to get the less common drop out of certain ores, or filling up on Starmetal if you use that.

On Siptah, due to the way resources are on the map and in chests/drops, this one would suggest against using oils in general.
They are much more utile in the Exiled Lands.

It is not useless, it is a luxury. :ok_hand:

It is indeed. Yet in Siptah Fragments of power are really easy to get, extremely easy actually. The precision alchemist bench requires just 2 fragments per oil.
Then we all say that repair kits are useless now, but is it this way?
If you combine how cheap is to fix oils and repair the eldarium pickaxe you looted from the accursed camp with repair kits, then all the “useless” becomes pretty handy after all .

According to wiki the difference in durability is Starmetal Pickaxe=500, Eldarium Pickaxe=375, this is without a thrall though, but still it likely won’t add more than some seconds to the durability, so while Starmetal does have higher durability the harvesting power is less

Considering the rarity of some resources it could be worth using the Oils, personally I don’t think so since loot now is so plentiful, I mean there are crafting resources that used to require a lot of work to obtain, but with the new loot system I find myself getting plenty of all high tier resources, so much that there are several of them that I haven’t actually harvested or crafted them myself.
Things like steel, hardened steel, various lotus, gold, silver, silk, etc. is so easy to get enough of just from loot and dismantling of various drops that you don’t actually need to go find them yourself.
I find myself pretty much just harvesting rocks, wood, bark, fiber, hide and a few other basic ressources, so that was pretty much my reason for asking if Oils are useless!

We started on a Siptah official pve server 4-5 weeks ago and haven’t had the need to harvest and craft the majority of high tier resources at all, instead we have chests overflowing with high tier resources from loot and dismantled items, way more than we probably ever will need already at this point and we have begun to even throw away some of them, I mean who needs thousands of hardened steel bars, lotus and other rare resources that you mostly only need in small amounts - They have sort of turned the game into a looting game instead of actually having to go out searching for a lot of stuff

True!

Again true. I am not complaining here, after the loot changes i haven’t harvest Star Metal yet, i loot it and it’s more than enough .
Same goes with obsidian.

You should get good at putting the tool away after you harvest one item. You can’t run around with it in your hand.
