I see that hidden pet armor has been patched to the PC.
Was something fixed or should we be able to view the armor values now? I can’t see any change

No, i think it was patched in sens of removed. So no more asking us why.
Pets don’t have armours, that why they come mostly with lot health. This makes also the big difference to thralls. Ever with lower health, thralls will mostly survive longer if you stuff them well, and give them good weapons.
Mostly heavy armours are the only go for thralls anyway.
Actually, I use the looted Lemurian medium armor on the and at least within Sep, they do fine, either in stationary packs or as a truncheon-wielding companion. I’m cheap, I know 
As to the pets, I agree that the increased health somewhat makes up for a lack of armor, but still confused here.
At one time, were we able to see pet armor?
At one time, was there pet armor, hidden, that was removed?
I ponder.

No, there was never ever a pet armor, or it was a mod.
But while pets are still thralls in a way, they patched out some rest that may let some people believe that maybe armour would come for pets.
The only armour like feature we know for pets are the dlc-fodders like you use yourself. But they give no real armour, it’s just viviual.
And sure, for some thralls, some looted armours may do the trick. In Seper you may get also lot armours, dismanteled they give silk, still also an add.
Don’t forget to learn the relic-hunter armour while there, ask Razma about.
