Do they sometimes just disappear? I placed it a few seconds ago and now it is just gone
They can fall through building materials. If you are lucky he/she will still be there on a lower level of the foundations. If you are unlucky (especially if you heard an “argh” just after you placed him/her) then the thrall is dead.
I and my partner have had several thralls just disappear whilst following us in his base … sometimes we come across a loot bag containing what that thrall has in their inventory, other times he’s escaped never to be seen again.
It is a known issue…
My advice is to remember THAT spot and do not place thralls there. Take note of it’s specifics and carefully test similar areas with a thrall you don’t care about losing before placing someone high level.
