What is this item in Hanuman's Grotto

Can anyone tell me what this item is. I’m assuming it is from a past story line that is no longer used.
Just curious.

Sorcerer staff.

They added a lot of sorcery decorations across the map with the Age of Sorcery.

I’ve never noticed that one in Hanuman’s Grotto before, but it is the basic Arcane Staff that you can acquire from Kurak’s cave:

As far as lore, the imps are mutated humans created by Darfari magic, so it is not surprising to find a magical implement near a congregation of imps (though I doubt whatever dev inserted it in there thought too hard about its backstory).

You can learn about imps by climbing a ridge to the north of The Summoning Place to find an unmarked scouting camp with three Scouting Mission Notes that tell how the Darfari are turning humans into imps.

@Tephra
It’s been a while since I was last there, but I thought there was information about the undead dragon nearby.

edit : I looked there and I guess it’s this part

Isn’t that about imps, not undead dragons?

I’ve played 6 1/2 years, 14,770 hrs, and I never knew that little camp was up there. I wonder what else is still hidden on the map, waiting for me to find.

One of the great things about the Exiled Lands map is the level of ‘unnecessary’ detail that is included. There are so many little details to be found. You’ve probably found all of Razma’s Journals, or the notes around Sepermeru about the poor guy trying to train a Grey Ape, maybe the corpses in Eyelet Lake, or the deep dive wrecks along the jungle coast. But have you ridden the Icecube as it slides downhill? Or found the poor frozen wretch caught in the ice between the Ice Temple and the Snowy Slopes? Or encountered the Angry Goat? It’s a shame so many of the ghosts have been allowed to become broken, since they used to hint at things nearby. And the loss of the old Journey step for visiting every single named location on the map, which required going to unexpected places and climbing otherwise unnecessary peaks. Just going to different places and looking around can lead you to find odd and interesting things. (of course the spirit of curiosity can also lead to incidents like the tree I climbed in the jungle and became convinced I could dive from safely into the river, only to discover a little spit of land in just the wrong spot…)

I’ve ridden both the Ice Cubes. Didn’t know about the “poor frozen wretch” or the “corpses in Eyelet Lake”. I’ll look them up. I also enjoyed the old Journey Steps. They encouraged me to explore the map when I first started playing in mid 2019.

Well, for the ‘poor frozen wretch’ - if you want a spoiler, I’ve got a screenshot here from when I first spotted him. And now you’ve got me wondering if I’ve seen both icecubes or only one - love that there’s always something new to find  Couldn’t agree more about the old journey steps. I do think the new system probably helps teach new players more (at least once they get used to the need to keep manually switching them, which I think is somewhat flawed), but it definitely feels more ‘hand-holdy’ where the old system more just pushed you to go looking for stuff.

One ice cube starts to the left, and just below the Road of the Pilgrim. The other is further around to right. Somewhere at the head of the valley below the Black Yeti WB. Can’t remember exactly where. It’s yonks since I’ve been around that particular area.

If you like riding ice cubes, have you ever ridden floating rocks down the lava rivers inside the volcano?

About volcano and sorcery decorations - there is a sorcerer corpse on top of highest rock “horn” at F14 - if you check the map, there is a horn shape rock formation pointing to well of skelos - corpse is on the tip of that rock.

Every major update has added something, it ain’t your fault you missed new things in places that had no basic interest to visit. Since you play this long then you know pretty well that a sorcery item wouldn’t exist there before the age of sorcery update. Devs for years try to balance correctly biomes, for example sometime now the prisoners in dagon sunken city drop star metal weapons.

Then again it’s rng. Many things will appear to us randomly and maybe after all this time we may find an item only once or twice, won’t play with it to create memories and forget it’s existence .

Any player that went over a certain amount of thousands hours in a game is burned with it , no doubt. I can assure you however that nobody has searched these 2 maps inch by inch and even if he did, the rng factor wouldn’t help him to learn everything.

That’s why socialising in this game is always beneficial and new players can see in times what veterans have missed.

That is the metaphorical equivalent of putting your wedding tackle in a lions mouth, then flicking his love buds with a wet towel.Total insanity, lol.
I’ve seen the rocks floating down, but it has never occurred to me to go surfing.

I am definitely going to try it (after I get my double jump perk).

Wow.

How the heck did you discover that. It’s not what you would call ‘sign posted’ lol.

I used Admin/Ghost to get up there. When I tried to climb down I fell and got my feathers singed,

Redeemed SL armor and spiderclimb gear. There is a small area near green border, where you can build, so I was scouting if there are any decaying bases there. Found that corpse by accident. There are also ghosts nearby pointing at chest.

Is there a chest up there. I never thought to look.

It’s on the cliff in front - just where those ghosts are pointing at.

Yes, it is, I just put it there to confirm that Tephra was right. There are three messages there. The one closest to Sinkhole mentions dragons, and the one furthest away mentions Imps.

Tell me about it, I tried to go through the whole map sector by sector, went through every valley, climbed everything.
A friend told me about this camp when he found it while flying with Bat Demon.

I never looked on the internet to see how many POIs I still hadn’t found, because I would have gotten bored looking for them, but I still hope to find some more.
The only thing I found on the internet was a list of three-skull bosses to make sure I had killed each of them at least once.

PS.

Hey, I haven’t found that yet. I only knew about the Yeti frozen in ice before the end of Klael Fortress.
I was really amused by the cemetery in Silkwood. I even tried using a shovel there after reading its info, but nothing happened.
