I do not really think there is a whole lot that even can be done on the older generation of consoles at this point in time with the addition of so much to the game over the years, and the continued additions being planned. I am not saying that nothing can be done, I just do not know how much is realistic to expect.
There is nothing wrong with the battlepass. As @Croms_Faithful pointed out, a $15 investment gets you 50 in game items (the worth to you personally will vary) AND enough Crom Coins to purchase the next battle pass thus making it from from that point forwards.
The Battlepass is not an issue of microtransations. The BLB IS and you would have had a much more valid argument if you had brought that up instead. And no, the entire community does not even agree on this being a problem or that the problems it has are even the same. But in general, there are problems with this one.
Do you not understand how many times everything in this game has already been re-work, re-balanced, overhauled and completely changed EXPLICITLY for the sake of “balancing” PVP already? @Kapoteeni pointed this out quite well already but the simple facts remain this has been done ad nauseam since the game has been released and it will never make anything different. Nothing will ever change. Someone will always find the “optimal” build, the “optimal” combination of stats / weapons / armor and EVERYONE WILL USE THE EXACT SAME THING because that is how it works in PVP.
You all make that conscious choice to use that “meta build” that you learned from youtube / redit / wherever and you all made that conscious choice to ignore all other options. That’s on you. If anything does get changed you will all choose to use the same exact new “meta build” while crying for nerfs and reworks and everyone else be damned.
So can Funcom do things to support PVP? Most certainly. Should they? ABSOLUTELY! But at the same time there needs to be serious though and consideration behind what exactly is done and how it effects everyone. For one thing, they could, and should, provide greater protection for offline raiding and start working on additional siege engines for both offensive and defensive aspects of raiding while reducing the efficiency of the bombs (as well as the ease of access to them). That alone would encourage more actual interaction between players, protect players bases more from being wiped while they are not even online and provide them with greater options at their disposal for a more engaging raiding experience. Will they do this though?
I remember @biggcane55 having some great suggestions for raid ideas in the past.
