This game is so confused.
Is it a survival game?
Is it a Fantasy MMO?
Is it a doll house simulator?
Now, being a blend isn’t inherently bad. Point of fact, they do quite well in implementation.
The problem, in this specific topic, more map, is they need to decide how they want to monetize and develop.
Personally, this one would prefer if they went the MMO route for new maps. The are paid DLC at first, but are added to the core game in a year or so. The paid part is basically for earlier access, and whatever extras are thrown in.
That said…
Siptah, from all internal reports this one has heard, so take this with a grain of salt as it is third hand from unverified sources, did not make the money Funcom was expecting. Given how very rough the lead up and test phase was, that would not be a surprise.
Siptah has many nice features, but also a lot of cobbled and half complete portions.
It’s also on life support now and not really supported much.
It has all but been put out to pasture.
Is it did disingenious to expect Funcom to keep up with Such massive and well funded dev teams as Blizzard, Bethesda, and Iron Gate?
That’s a prickly question considering they are the wholely owned creatures of Tencent.
The direction they seem to be going in is to (half) tweak the Exiled Lands map rather than add much new to explore.
Not certain how long that will sustain.
