100% agreement with you.
I have mods on my servers. My players get tetchy when modders haven’t updated their mods, or even that I have not dropped everything in real life to update the servers even. Lots of laughing later.
I remind my players that they have only paid for the vanilla game. Also that mods are purely optional and, though they certainly enhance the core game enormously (for me), unless someone is paying the Modders’ salary to make and support a mod, no level of disrespect or other nonsense is acceptable expecting them to be updated.
Similar applies to my servers. They are mine. I pay for them. They are labours of love. I cannot play on all of them myself, but I support them. Should I not be available during an update the players have to wait. If they don’t, there are other servers and games out there.
Conversely, I certainly know that many players move on to other games or stop playing regularly on my servers. I have no right to demand they come back and play on my servers or to demand reasons that they are not playing. That’s not how it works.
Summary: Players paid for the core, vanilla, official-server game. That is the only thing they justifiably complain to Funcom for.
ps: in agreement - any player throwing attitude, hate, ‘entitlement’ rage about? At least I have the option, and satisfation, of booting and banning them off my servers.
