“What Mode do you usually play or prefer.” Meaning, you could select say, Single-Player as your favorite way to play Conan Exiles, but you typically prefer PvP. Or any number of a million combinations of why you choose which selection to pick. As Kapoteeni said
That’s what matters most. The poll makes you click buttons, but it also gets you thinking on why you chose what you did. Pretty sure Ignasis/Funcom would be more interested in what you have to say on what type of gamestyle you enjoy playing, rather then which button you clicked since that’s raw data then can pull (and probably do pull) whenever they need.
Ignasis forgot a “play in the Dev Kit” option though! The nerve!
PVP is amazing because it really brings out the best and worst of the game and gives it the most life like feel but when you get a room full of LIARS AND SNEAKS then pvp is a problem but then again that’s the reality of humans. I play both pvp and pvpc, pvp for being evil and pvpc for the beautiful builds and helping the community.
A competitive environment, whether it’s an online game, a collectible card game, a miniatures wargame or a physical sports game, is always the environment that shows the merits and flaws of a game system the best, because when people compete, they’re also the most motivated to find ways to beat each other and the system. Competitive people are a great resource for game developers.
Unfortunately, a competitive environment also brings out the best and the worst of the people playing the game. Whether it’s a tennis player smashing their rackets after the game, or a miniature gamer refusing a handshake after losing a game, or an online player resorting to bug abuse, some people are less suited for such gaming culture than others.
I mean, some people cheat at Solitaire.
But when people get together to compete in a fair and sportsmanlike fashion (even when it’s about brutally hacking each other apart with sharp objects), it’s a beautiful thing. Paraphrasing Reiner Knizia: The OBJECTIVE of a game is to win. The POINT of a game is to have fun.
I honestly have to say this thread is one of my favorites so far… its making me consider trying either an rp server… which ive never done any real rp otherv than old D&D… or trying out pvp again. Everyone seems to have really good reasons as to why they play how they play, As my last post said ive played on my own pve server since my first base wipe in EA from hackers… so it may be time to see what else is out there
I guess your best bet is to try a RP server, on RP server admins and people usually give 200% of themselves to make the experience more bearable and more enjoying than it actually is.
PVE-C is where I started. I suggest PVE for those that want to level and learn the game before they dive into PVP. You can tell, by the decor, the mode of other players. PVE has more trophies seen, for example. PVP has more box/trap bases. I haven’t been all over the map of each server I’ve played.
Currently I’m focused on PVP because the uncomfortable feeling of being ganked and striped. Some say it’s a good way to overcome it.
I like the console for games. There is no general chat on the console, so it feels empty compared to the PC chat windows or discord.
Maybe server #3835 just needs more players. (hint hint) Survive the stone-age (t1) and things are more fun on PVP. Note that the list of servers doesn’t display number of players on. It just says “?/40”. Maybe we need a meter/chart that shows prime hours for the servers.
Also note those that are really into RP could use a VR headset.
I play solo on official PVE servers, both PC and PS4. I played PVE-C when my friends were still in game, but left to my own devices I gravitate more towards building than fighting others.
I think the game has held my interest for a variety of reasons, but the two biggest for me are the immersive atmosphere and the “feel” of the game. I’ve liked the Conan stories since the original movie came out in 1982, and I think the team has done a great job with the game’s “exile” concept and general tone and lore in the game. The “feel” of the game is harder to describe, but the simplest way to put it is: I just enjoy the experience of playing the game, from the combat, to the building, to the environment, to the exploration. Hands down my current favorite game, and though I dabble in other games from time to time, this is the one I keep coming back to.
I think you could pick PVE (As playing solo on the SP mode means you solely paly against the environment). It is possible, as a Solo/Co-Op to do PVP or PVE-C. i think one can have up to 3 friends join on their SP/Co-Op game. Tethered, yes. Conceivably, you could melee fight each other as a way to play (Gladiotrs!!!), as you don’t have to be in their clan when you join the SP mode. PVP (raiding) would be a little more difficult, but technically possible. So it wouldn’t devalue your pick of the second question if you wanted to vote.
Ok having heard the reasoning provided by Kapoteeni, Multi, Mikey and WhatMightHaveBeen, I have accepted the logic presented, as not having any adverse outcomes on the poll, and not being a dishonest action. Cheers for the input, and helping me to unpack the issues (or lack there of here) on this one fellow Exiles.
Pvp official all the time … from experience playing on private ark servers and reading about popular private Conan servers I would never consider playing on them … yes we have to deal with all the exploits and cheaters on official but I’d rather deal with that than deal with some of the admin abuse or the fact that the server could go down at any point
As you can see by the election, 51% of the players prefer PvE.
Why then must these private servers be boosted?
Although you can just play so relaxed with a clan.
Mostly PVE in Single Player, I’d PVP if it was…abit better “community wise”
Survive.Build.Dominate.When there Not Around Is overall motto if most…
I’ve had some great experiences on private servers with some ground rules that kept everyone on fair grounds…give or take who could farm most stuff, or got lucky on drops…lol
I love SP, so I’m left to my own devices, but enjoy other people around. I’m no “role player” But you know the one guy/gal with massive bridge across map, or massive tower shaped like a Llama is always kinda just… its neat…but not lore fitting, LOL
Land Claim issues is one of biggest reason I stay offline, we really need land claim flag idea to really stop the enclosures.
Hopfully next game will allow full building offline singleplayer, and not have areas blocked cause online stuff. =/
I miss my Cave house…
I find a big clan of 10 members, has the right to take a lot of land.
But of course only as much as you really need.
I find SP very boring, I like to meet other players and like to trade with them.
That’s something I miss in the game, a trading place.
I hope that one day it will come to that.
I would also like to have 20 more attribute points so I can perfect my cha for 2H weapons.
Of course FC will not do that, but you can still dream.
Look into private servers. Especially RP servers often have their own admin controlled hub city for selling / trading and generally just getting together to hang out. Often have level cap higher than 60 so there are your extra attribute points.
I think you do not understand my statement correctly.
I would like to have this on an official server and not on a private server.
I think the rules and that as a private person the server admin are totally superfluous.
If I stick to rules then only to officials from the creators themselves.
