Personally, and this is pure speculation, this one thinks the attack pattern of the Javelin may have been inspired by the movie 300. The leap, the lunge, the sweep.
It all looks very cinematic.
It just doesn’t quite synchronize with the way the game plays, not even before the Age of WT- er, War.

While the ragdoll dismemberment tracks, this game has exceedingly little in the way of one shots. The Javelin moveset seems most excellent for a Musuo title, like Dynasty Warriors.

Long ago, enshrouded in the mists of history, one could, if also armed with a shield, do a series of quick stutter thrusts with the Javelin. This was most likely unintentional, but was extremely effective (PvE) vs single targets. The damage, even if the dragon bone javelins (top of the line unless one had Riptide), was not very impressive, but it had excellent lock down and when the enemy recovered (this was back when stun/stagger resistance kicked in after awhile) the shield was there to let them exhaust themselves.
Boring but effective, just like a turtle formation should be.

This one still likes the short spears in concept.
However, not in a good place at moment. The lunge, even before the most recent situation, had somewhat high chance of over striking and the sweep+ advance was wide open while not being powerful enough to justify it’s vulnerability (personal view). But with the current issues… No, just no. It cannot decide if it wants to be fast and linear or slow and sweeping, but it loves to lunge. Not a winning formula at present.

@stelagel is a far more fearsome warrior than this one to make that moveset actually work in the current environment. This one, in their advanced years and treacherous disposition wins where winning is easy, meanwhile he is demonstrating Arete and Karteria in abundance.
