Does anybody else want clustered servers (like Ark has) that allow players to obelisk from one map to another?
The 70-player cap on PC servers isn’t enough to hold all of our server’s players, UE4’s 1-thread capability limits is making performance abyssmal at 70/70 players, and the popularity of our server means we have to wipe more frequently than we want to because of all the builds and placables. If we can’t change the engine to accommodate more players, can we please add the capability to allow modders to make their own maps, and allow players to warp from clustered map to clustered map?
This is a great game. We’d love to host 200+ concurrent players, and we’re certain the demand is there for it. Does anyone else feel like clustered servers/maps would be a great thing to have?
I would be against it. Just makes it easier for one character to server hop with bombs.
Well, as it exists in other implementations (like Ark) you can limit what’s transported server-to-server.
The question on the table here is really “Who wants more space to play on?” and the rest can be hammered out.
I fully support this! I think it would be a great idea and really show off the full potential of the community that is heavily gated behind the 70/70 cap. I strongly believe that if it has worked for Ark and has been show to be a benefit than to allow modders the ability to do it for Funcom would be fantastic. Implement this, Funcom!
So the idea would be - a private owner would run a number of servers linked together. It’s a work-around to UE4’s single-thread server software.
All of Atlas is run like so right now, by way of reference.
