I’m not an expert or even conveniently informed on the matter, but that’s practically inevitable. AI could fix the moderation problems in the so called official servers. It would make its blunders, but it would be right in most cases. I have no idea how expensive something like that would be, but I wondered myself if it might be a thing in the future. I suppose so and I don’t oppose. The same goes for programming in general. As a player, I don’t care how a game is made and maintained. Ai, human, hybrid, it’s all good if the end product is better. The way things are looking, a lot of jobs will be replaced. AI can be extraordinary when performing many tasks. Because of that, society needs to prepare a gigantic economic paradigm shit, or what can be a boon may end up as a catastrophe.
I couldn’t help but chuckle at a little typo in your reponse.
Specifically : … “paradigm shit,” …
Or was that really a typo?
Anyway, you’re absolutely right on point!
I agree that it’s impossible to please everyone. That’s exactly why, from the very beginning, my suggestion has been to offer multiple levels of challenge and let players choose the experience they want.
That way, more casual players can clear the dungeon, grab some loot, head back to their base, log off, and still have time for the rest of life instead of spending hours memorizing a boss’s attack patterns. For a lot of players, that just isn’t fun. It feels tedious, discouraging, and more like a chore than a game.
What they do enjoy is exploring a new dungeon, discovering a unique environment, facing a well-balanced challenge, and walking away with some loot. It doesn’t have to be a legendary trophy or a super rare drop. Sometimes they’re just there to experience the content - or to accomplish something practical, like repairing their legendary weapons (which, in my opinion, shouldn’t be locked behind completing a dungeon in the first place).
And honestly? Those players would probably walk right past the “hardcore gate” without a second thought.
They’re not bothered by the fact that other players want a much tougher challenge with exclusive rewards. They don’t want to take that away from anyone.
Because for them, enjoying Conan Exiles doesn’t require other players to struggle. There’s room for both playstyles to coexist.
changes will be necessary so that the adjustment period can be as short and painless as possible. Until the economy adjusts, a lot of people may fall without a safety net. A poor economy benefits no one.
Allow my disagreement here fellow @dharu .
Although the game was introduced with absolute necessity of companionship, after age of sorcery this was completely changed. Devs decided to make our characters really strong and methodically, update after update, they made Thralls “optional” in fights, making them dummer and weaker.
So every single fight after age of sorcery is by far (but really far) easier without Thralls.
It’s only the bad habit that left to the players. Because this is what Thralls in fights are , a bad habit. Our fights with them isn’t faster neither easier and the only viable reason we endure their weakness and silliness, is to level them up just in case their high level helps them to stay alive.
When this game started you could loose a relic Hunter on black keep regardless it’s 8,5 k hp .
When this game started literally every player lost a follower in lava regardless the hp .
When this game started, players were struggling to get thick leather and the central Savannah was very vicious.
When this game started the temperature effects was killing you before you understand it .
Conan exiles WAS a survival harsh game.
Now it’s blocks and dolls, period!
Calling the game “just blocks and dolls” while arguing that the new dungeon is too hard without thralls feels a bit ironic lol
Have they been nerfed over the years? Absolutely. But they’ve gone from being overpowered to being balanced, not irrelevant, i do agree that Conan has become much more forgiving than it used to be, the old survival mechanics, temperature, progression, and overall sense of danger were much harsher, but… I don’t think that means thralls are just a “bad habit.” they’re still a core gameplay mechanic that rewards preparation and progression.
I remember the days when it was almost impossible to leave your base and tackle serious content without a thrall, simply because your character didn’t deal enough damage on their own, and now, it’s different, but still is there currently a corrupted build that don’t need thralls? Are there any true endgame dungeons that aren’t significantly easier with a thrall? Or to be even more honest, if you decide to play a pure thrall build today, letting your followers do the fighting while you mostly support them, is there any content where that playstyle isn’t effective or rewarding? Depending on the playstyle…
I agree.
I don’t mind the forge being at the end of the dungeon the first time. The problem is that every time you want to repair a single legendary weapon, you have to clear the entire dungeon again. That can become repetitive, especially since it’s not exactly one of the shortest dungeons in the game.
Maybe the repair materials could occasionally drop from other endgame activities, while the new dungeon remains the most efficient source. That would keep the dungeon valuable without forcing players to repeat the entire run just because they need a single repair…
i can’t afford to disagree as i didn’t play CE until 2022.
However, i’ve timestamped an early game fight with a hyena in this 9 years old video (this crew is pretty funny btw.) where the guy is hacking at it whilst losing almost no stamina.
And i will say, i find hyenas pretty scary in early game these days…
For the most part these guys are pretty clueless, using mostly tools as weapons, no armor, so they die… but they also fight these glitchy enemies that just stand there and do nothing.
Anyway i don’t see the harshness you and other OG’s keep bringing up.
That said, i struggled very much even in 2022 when i first started. But i’d probably attribute that to simply being as clueless as these goofballs xD
Honestly, I don’t know how rare it is for players to get the legendary weapons they want, but I’d rather go into shorter dungeons a few times than this one just to get repairs. ![]()
Which is more or less how I suggested they could fix this: A once through giving access to the “fixing the legendaries” station via some route alternate to “through the entire dungeon”, and have this current newest dungeon be the best primary source for repair materials while still allowing for at least a modicum of said repair materials to drop from certain bosses or gained via the deconstruction of legendary items themselves.
It would give folks who really want to be most “efficient” a reason to keep running the dungeon while giving everyone multiple avenues to the same endpoint.
This is the part you didn’t understand, so let me go deeper in it .
So we get a game that thralls and pets are one way street. They are completely important in the beginning to increase your carrying ability and home defense. Players use to struggle to go lvl 60 and travel to the map . Players may accepted at least 4 purges before they hit 60 and start claiming the end game goodies and felt lots of losses until they get there . So Devs decide to make it easier and create god Thralls and faster ways to get end gear. So now all the players will end up starting a session with a goal to get the soonest possible a Cimmerian berserk.
Before we understand it mounts of the dead will be overpopulated and people will mainly play encumbrance build since they didn’t have to fight anything, their oversized chest female berserk will do all the fights and them ONLY looting, literally only looting, but the poor berserk will die in lava “Boohoo” . So Devs make Thrall immune on lava also, too much “Boohoo” .
THiS
my friend @Kyrturios is what I called bad habit. Because when Devs decided to change this again and give players a CHANCE to be the heroes of these lands , knowing that players are already “ill” from the encumbrance Pandemic, they also created the Authority build . It was sure that some wouldn’t choose to be cured from the thrall illness and keep rare weapons on walls without a spill of blood on them…pity !
Every effort from Devs to make the game more challenging will end up on conversations like it .
In a way you cannot blame players for learning to lean on Thralls, it’s been given to them this way from the beginning. But they became lazy and that’s exactly the bad habit i refer.
The funny part? This dungeon in maximum 2 months will be done from most of the player community with blind eyes and they will start accusing Devs again that they are incompetent to fix a difficult content.
Go figure!
I agree the entire game needs to be rebalanced. Its way too easy now even on its highest difficulty. And there needs to be an endgame of some sort.
Funcom tried to make PvP the endgame. That failed. Twice. (both in Conan Exiles and again in Dune: Awakening; yes, a small portion of the player base love PvP, but based on the Dune: Awakening statistics, that’s certainly not the majority.).
So, what endgame should Funcom/Inflexion use, if not dungeons? I proposed an idea in a different thread, but we, as a community, really need to propose alternatives if we don’t want dungeons to be “it”.
So, dungeons aren’t supposed to be accessible to everyone?
What’s the point of playing this game if you can’t complete them?
True!
I play on an official PvE-C server, and the PvP window happens to match the time I usually play. Because of that, I mostly log in to fight other players, and honestly, we don’t even bring thralls to PvP anymore.
That said, almost everyone follows the same progression path when starting out: Kurak → Cimmerian Berserker → Dungeon’s to unlock the Ranger set.
On PvE most players run 20 Vitality, 20 Expertise, and 20 Authority, with two thralls. It’s by far the most common build you’ll see.
I mean, it should have been both, right? PvE and PvP, but the fact is Funcom doesn’t know how to do either one properly… Dune was a disappointment in the endgame lol
what does it even mean?
I play only PvE and i have never ever used anything like this
Probably because i refuse to optimize the fun out of my game.
And that’s exactly what i think you all are doing. It starts with what you just said:
So you guys learn about meta builds and meta ways to progress in a perfectly optimal way and then you complain about game being easy…
There are probably multiple ways to make things harder for you. One way is to make everything very RNG: NPC/enemy spawns and resource spawns. Then remove all the free gear from Kurak’s cave, Sepermeru, and other places. Or lock those chests and make the key an RNG drop from some tough enemies, idk.
I don’t complain at all lol, and I don’t do that. I play on an official server with the same character for years. It’s just what I see other people doing… But there’s nothing wrong with only trying to do meta stuff, we can all play however we want.
It is, as you say, fine for people to do whatever meta stuff they want. But it is not great to tar everyone with the same brush. Plenty of PVEers don’t use that build - I’ve literally never used a build that even resembles that. Suggesting that ‘the majority’ of PVE is played with any specifci build is unlikely, but is also a way that is often used to dismiss PVE.
I don’t think you guys understood what I meant… let me make it clear, I play on my server during PvP hours, but during PvE hours I see everyone using this build… everyone, on the server I play on.
I didn’t mean that every PvE player does it, or that there aren’t people who play differently. I’m only talking about what I personally see on the server I play on. On my server, during PvE hours, almost everyone I see is running this kind of build. I know there are plenty of PvE players with different playstyles, I’m just sharing my experience from my server.
Calm down lol
Fair enough. But what you said didn’t talk about ‘PVE hours’ on ‘your server’. What you said was -
That’s a pretty clear statement. If it wasn’t what you intended, fine. But it should be pretty obvious why people would take it to be yet another attack on a different game mode. It’s worth being a little more careful about how you write something like that, given how often people do make exactly that sort of sweeping generalisation.
That wasn’t what you intended, so no problem. But it doesn’t actually help matters when you then act as if people interpreting what you said in exactly the way it appears are the ones with the problem who need to ‘calm down’. You could have clarified your position without that.
That’s fair, and I can see why that sentence came across as a general statement.
My intention was to keep talking about the same context I started with, my official PvE-C server and the people I regularly play with. I wasn’t trying to claim that’s how PvE is everywhere.
As for the “calm down” comment, it wasn’t aimed at you personally. It was just a reaction to the discussion getting heated for something I clearly never said, I could have worded that better as well.
In any case, I wasn’t trying to offend anyone or put down a different playstyle. I was only sharing my own experience, and if my wording gave a different impression, I apologize, that wasn’t my intention.
