Will 3.0 be compatible with past saves?

I am truly sorry if this question has been asked dozens of times. I’ve been searching for an answer online and now on the forum and maybe I am not using the right words in my search? Truly, if this has been answered I am sorry. I just can’t find it.

Will 3.0 need a restart from scratch on each game/server? Or will it be compatible with new saves? I’m playing only solo (yes, after 1400 hours still solo). I’m thinking of starting a new character/game. But if it will break it when 3.0 arrives, then I will wait.

Once again, I am sorry if I have been bad at searching for an answer.

The answer will depend on if you are using mods and if those mods are updated when 3.0 hits before you login. If you are playing vanilla, it should be no problem. With mods, make a backup of your game database before the update and then if you login and all is chaos or corrupted, wait for your mods to update before reloading the saved database.
