My SWL RDB folder has 00.rdbdata through 33.rdbdata, all dated 2021 (mostly) or 2024. The TSW RDB folder has 00.rdbdata through 129.rdbdata; most are 2021 and 2017, 8 from 2016 and a few from 2019, 2020 and 2024. The 00.r to 129.r files are not sequentially dated. The bulk of the low numbers are 2017, and a big set of the high numbers are 2021: all the same day. I rebuilt my system around January 2021, and ran the game again for the first time in quite a while in Windows 10. I mostly game in Win10, which never had a problem. I recently started getting so irritated with Microsoft that I began exploring Linux, and playing games in Win7. That was when I realized that while most games were fine in Win7 (they should be, that’s what I ran them in the first time around), TSW and SWL instantly froze solid.
This is not some idealized fresh install system, but one that grew with periodic hardware replacements from Windows 7, through 8.0 and 8.1 to Windows 10. There are probably (almost certainly) minor bits dating from XP days. The fact that my Archive drive has saved game installations from 2012 should say a lot. (Oh, hey, installation packages for MS Office 2000 and Office2007. And a Hackintosh virtual machine for Mac OS Snow Leopard.)
