Witch Doctor thralls armour value broken?

All of the pets crafted from the Witch Doctor feat seem to potentially broken. When using one as a companion, in PVE they are fine and have no issue taking any of the world bosses whilst losing only a small amount of HP.

Swapping to PVP, a single heavy attack combo is doing approx 7-10% of the entire HP pool of the T4 Legion Soldier, even though its armour is over 1200 (mine is 1499). Is this intended?
Also I do as much damage to my own pet as another player which seems weird.
