The milk in my fridge went bad yesterday because of those mods.
The fact is they corrupted the database of my PS5 that can’t even use mods.
Bump
Bump
Well deserving of yet another bump.
Xevyr did you update the new UI of the thralls. It feels like i have a million questions right now. Thanks in advance for any reply.
Not yet, aside from that UI and some background AI stuff most of the above is still relevant.
Plus Funcom seems to be changing these with every hotfix and update… So when they settle down a bit and we seem to have a final version, I’ll look at all the differences and update accordingly.
For now it should still be fine.
I’d say my biggest question right now is why ‘chase distance’ and ‘attack distance’ are linked for some reason, lol. (But then, that might just be a bug, so probably better waiting till it settles down a bit before I hurt my brain trying to figure it out )
I don’t understand s…t of the new system.
What i enjoy and (finally) highly agree with the changes is the general order commands.
I was using stop a lot, yes, but it was wrong. It was not correct to lvl up thralls this way, it was a bit “broken”.
In the beginning i believed that flee is good, but now i use more stand and defend than flee. When i go to boss fights as warrior, i ask my horse and bearer to stand and defend in a correct render area. If something will attack them they will defend their self which is really good and i will be able to fight without distraction.
On flee they get in your way while you fight and they can be more harmful than helpful.
I don’t understand passive, aggressive, etc… Can you explain these things a bit my dearest @DanQuixote, whatever you share will be really appreciated, thanks a million .
I can try, lol - but I’d say I can mostly tell you what it should be based on use of language, not necessarily what it is.
Combat tactic should be pretty straightforward - Hold means stay there and don’t move around (so like ‘Stand and Defend’), ‘Chase’ means go after enemies even if they start running away (there may be a leash here, so they probably stop chasing after a bit), ‘Withdraw’ should be like ‘Flee’ - if attacked they should try to get away.
The next two sets should both mean the same thing, just one version for when the thrall is guarding and the other for when they are following. These should change how the thrall does the things in the first category. So ‘Passive’ would mean don’t fight back, ‘Defensive’ would mean only fight back if attacked, and ‘Aggressive’ should mean attack anything that comes into range - so a bit like the old ‘Attack Nothing’, ‘GuradMe/Guard Area’ and ‘Attack All’).
This should then mean that eg - if you combine ‘Withdraw’ and ‘Passive’ - they should just run away, while ‘Withdraw’ + ‘Defensive’ should mean that they retreat but still try to fight back if something is hitting them. (‘Withdraw’ + ‘Aggressive’ seems confusing…).
‘Hold’ + ‘Passive’ should be like the old ‘Stop’ - they should just stand and not fight back - whereas ‘Hold’ + ‘Defensive’ or ‘Aggressive’ would be more like the old ‘Stand and Defend’.
‘Chase’ + ‘Passive’ should probably be a really bad idea, since you are telling them to chase after enemies and not fight back - but I guess if someone really wanted to get rid of a thrall I’m not sure how ‘Chase’ + ‘Defensive’ should work, but maybe it could be a way that ensures the thrall only goes after enemies that try to attack it first? (Really not sure on that one.) ‘Chase’ + ‘Aggressive’ would be the classic aggro thrall behaviour of running around and trying to kill any enemy that comes into range.
Like I say - none of this is guaranteed - and I haven’t had time to test it all yet - but that is what the language used should mean. There may be a few bits that work out slightly different, but it should be mostly correct.
First of all thanks a million .
So if i put my thralls on hold then i don’t have to tell them all the time to stand and wait…
I will place the follow distance 30 meters and i am good, nice.
I want them without order, to stay back 30 meters and defend their self, so if i understand correct what you said i go…
Hold.
Defensive
Defensive
Am i correct?
Ps, since i didn’t choose chase, then the chase distance is useless, correct?
That makes sense to me - I think with ‘Hold’ the chase distance should probably be useless - I’d probably set the chase distance down to 5 or 10 just in case, but in theory it should work the way you’re aiming for
Hold + Defensive should work quite well, I think, for what you want (with nice long follow distance: 30 or even more maybe). From what I understand, it won’t be quite the same as before, because they will follow you, or teleport to you if you go too far (so no more free xp from raids on the seige, lol), but for general following but staying out of it, that should be the right set up. (Remember to make sure the first authority perk is switched off, if you have it - otherwise enemies will probably still swerve round you to go for the followers. They might still do it a bit anyway - some still go after my followers no matter how far away they are with the perk switched off - but mostly they don’t.)
Depends . I am pretty sure the players of this game will find a loop again, have no doubt about it . Thanks for the help m8, very appreciated .
Today the thrall reference table is not opening.
Does anyone here have a suggestion for gear for the berkserkers? I am new to the game, and my berserkers are getting rekt by villagers with worse gear than them. I heard thralls used to be strong, but have been nerfed into the dirt. I never experienced the game before the nerfs, so I have no idea what that was like. My max level berserkers are struggling with legendary gear, though. Is there a point to focusing on thralls like this, or are they just mostly useless now?
Sidenote, pets seem completely useless, even more-so than thralls. Which is unfortunate because I love having pets to battle with in games.
Yep, unfortunately pets are currently pretty useless. Maybe one day we’ll get the other half of the promised pet overhaul.
As for the berserkers, it sounds like you’re actually running into a bug (that was identified by Xevyr recently) - all of the lower tier Cimmerian npcs in the wild currently have their armour multiplied, so they are significantly tougher than they are supposed to be. You should find that your berserkers are ok against most other stuff, but low tier Cimmerians are likely to be a problem right now.
As for recommended gear - my suggestion would be Redeemed Silent Legion or Heavy Dragonbone armour (with bulked plating, if you have the option). I tend to use Pictish Warchief for the legs, as that’s a good strength armour as well. Weapons-wise, the general recommendations for the exiled lands would be either Momentum (1 h mace) or Blade of the Adventurer (2 H sword). I also like Papyrus Blade (2 h sword) or Hanuman’s Gada (2 h hammer). Hopefully that helps a bit
Thank you so much for your response. That is actually really helpful. I live near the Cimmerians, so that is 90% of my issue. The fact that it’s easier to kill bosses in the Unnamed City than that village was wild to me, so I’m glad there is an actual reason and I’m not crazy lol. I appreciate the advice as well. I will start working toward that gear.
Yeah, hopefully it’s fixed soon!
