Hi I had no problems setting up a server previously but on a new laptop but now and I can’t get it working,
I’ve green lights for ports etc. and I can ‘Direct Connect’ on the machine the server is running on, but I can’t connect externally on another machine.
The server is showing up in the in game list but with ping of 9999, when I click on it I can’t connect.
I did notice that when I run the launcher I get this line which I don’t think I had seen before:
First and foremost, thanks for the awesome work you did with this launcer. I use it quite some time now and it runns like a charm.
But now I have a small problem.
I had version 1.3.8 in use for quite some time, but somehow the discord webhook did no longer work. So i upgraded to the current stable version 1.5.1. Now the webhooks work very smooth, the custom messages etc.
But what is no longer working is, the message, when a user joins or left the server, which was the case in the old version. I did not see anything in the change logs. Is there some configuration to switch this back on? I think this a function not everyone wants to have, but in our case we use it quite often to meet on the server.
I meant the messages in discord, sorry for the confusion.
I made a screenshot of the old messages, since i did not change anything in the initial setup, and only the webhook can post in this channel, i am sure no one else is sending these messages.
As a new user, i cannot have images or links in my posts. :-/ add a https in front of the next line and replace the (dot) :-/

Don’t worry sorted this, didn’t have 7777 or 270115 forwarded, am using 7778 and 27016 in launcher but didn’t realise I still needed those open as well.
So, you may have noticed that 1.5.2 had stayed “beta” for a while, and actually there’s been a few more versions which had not been published, because there was a bug in the “restart early if there are no players” which sometimes snowballed with chain restarts, etc…
Hopefully this issue is fixed, but if it’s not, then I’ll temporary give up and disable the feature and republish a version without it.
So this version 1.5.6 adds to the previous versions this:
1.5.6 (2 december 2021)
Another tweak on the “no player check”, this time checking that the minimum server-uptime is larger than the largest restart warning delay duration
Moved the call to +force_install_dir before +login since SteamCMD was asking us to “Please use force_install_dir before logon!”
Forced the SteamCMD window to use 180 columns to avoid truncation of lines in the SteamCMD tab
The ToolTips display duration has been extended from 5 to 30 seconds, to give you a chance to read the longest ones
(1.5.5) Added {dsl_version}, {server_revision}, {server_snapshot} and {branch_name} magic tokens
(1.5.4) The launcher now checks for the presence of a RequiresRestart.txt file, and initiate a restart of the server if it found it (the content is displayed in the restart message)
(1.5.4) The game server will now restart early if there are no player connected during the final countdown instead of waiting, which should help reduce the downtime when the server needs to restart for updates
(1.5.4) The “Players” tab is now modified when the number of players change so it’s directly visible in the UI
(1.5.4) If a “Html” folder exists, the “favicon.ico” and “style.css” will be loaded from there, allowing for custom looking web status pages
Question for all of you who had problems with their servers not consistently appearing on the Server Browser page, is it still happening as it was before, gotten somewhat better, and is actually solved?
(Asking because something was tweaked on Funcom’s server side which may or may not have fixed some of these problems)
We got the server working BUT the host can’t join it via LAN nor the internal IP. For the first way that asks for password load till main menu and nothing happens. For the second, it writes - not connected with the host.
Multihome ticked. Ports are green. External users can join via server name, the same for the owner, which is not good for a capacity reasons. Any help or suggestion, please.
In order to understand what the problem is, I need to understand exactly what works and what does not work, and you need to be clear and explicit, because I have no idea what “for the first way” and “for the second” actually refers to, or what you exactly mean by “LAN nor the internal IP” (because “internal IP” is your actual network address on a ‘Local Area Network’).

What do you mean by “capacity reason”?
I assume that “join by server name” means “using the server browser in the game”?
The person hosting a dedicated server on the same computer that she is using for playing, so, she need to join by Steam - LAN servers. That’s asked password, load the game and nothing happened after that. Just the main menu and all.
After waiting for several minutes, she go through Internet - Join directly and fill raws with the same IP that’s written on the Multihome row on the dedicated launcher, 7777 port and our password. At that case got the “Host doesn’t answer” message.
In the end, just connects like us, “external” players.
There are issues with the network code of Exiles that for some people (depends of the router in charge of the networking locally) does not manage to properly resolve internal/external ips.
I’ve no idea if the Steam LAN server thing is supposed to work, a couple years ago Exiles was using Steam for the networking, but that was changed so now I’ve no idea if it’s supposed to work or not.
In the end, just connects like us, “external” players.
So she can connect and play? Is that a problem to use the same method as the players?
It’s not like if the host had any special magical access rights depending on how they connect
Tiny bug-fix for 1.5.6, the code was actually already written/fixed but did not make it to the version, so there you go.
1.5.7 (7 december 2021)
The number in the “Players” tab should now go down when players leave (with some latency, the information is only updated when the server the “exiles-stats?players=” message appears in the log) Dedicated Server Launcher 1.5.7
I’m 99% certain that connecting through the external IP does not make her go on the internet, what she’s doing on her client does possibly go to the router but then immediately back to the machine.
What’s possible is that the machine is simply underpowered for what you are trying to do:
What are the machines specs (operating system, memory, cpu, network card, type of storage)
Are there any mods on the server
How many clients are connected on the server
In addition, was there any work done on setting up core affinity, looking at the resource manager for things using the disk (ex: Anti-virus), memory and cpu usage, etc…
