Config DSL servers Players Helping Players Conan Exiles
Ah, maybe that’s where I’ve been going wrong. I’ll try that out now. Thank you.
Thank you.
It worked! Using the local IP with my custom game port and it joined me in super quick!
I see myself in the logs as well. I’m going to have my friend join and check if this works. I’ll be ecstatic if this does. I’ll edit with the update.
EDIT: It works. I haven’t checked the distance and how it effects my PC, but it works! Now, we move on to trying to transfer our world. I appreciate the help from everyone!
EDIT 2: Everything is working great! Glad I got it working and that my problem was only caused from a knowledge gap on my end. One downside to the Gamepass version of Connan is that they don’t allow you to use mods anymore. It seems Microsoft removed the option to enable them. Oh, well. Thanks again for the assistance!
Glad that worked in the end.
Regarding the mods on gamepass, I’ve no idea, only played the game on Steam.
Is that something recent, or is it just maybe something MS changed that broke mods but can still be done by juggling around?
Good catch, did not notice the 27015
The issue started around 1-3 years ago, and not just limited to Conan Exiles. The issue seems to be due to the default install location for games through the Xbox app changing after an update.
Microsoft added the option for Gamepass games to be modded awhile back, then they did something with an update and it changed the default install location for games and bugged the entire feature for mostly everyone.
The fix I seen for getting mods to work on the Xbox version was to change security permissions (disabling inheritance and making yourself the owner) of the ModifiableWindowsApps and Xbox Games folders and it will auto-magically “revert” back to before the update that doomed everything.
I’ve since went to Steam and got the mods there as I’ve dealt with Microsoft’s aggressive ownership of folders in the past and I didn’t feel like dealing with it again.
HELP WITH DEDICATED SERVER. I’ve read many of the posts, and many forusm both here and on other websites AND youtube videos. I cannot run a dedicated server no matter how hard I try. The ports are all red, even when i’ve tried port forwarding and no firewalls at all…
That may be an issue with your ISP (Internet Service Provider), some use the same IP address for multiple customers, and do some network magic to send back the proper packet to the right customer, in this setup, port forwarding does not work.
Often they have possibilities to make that possible, but in general you need to contact them.
What I would do in your place, is to first contact your ISP and ask them if port forwarding is supported by them at all: No point wasting time trying to make things work on your side if some changes on the ISP side is required.
I just realized: The current official version is 1.7.8, 1.7.9 was released as beta in May, maybe time to make it the new official, has any of you tried it and had issues, or is it safe to go?
1.7.9 is now the new official version.
I dont understand what is happening to my sever, but i am hosting and playing at the same time, and from time to time it all crashes, conan and the server, and i find in the windows events that i got out of memory.
I ve seen i can choose how many cores my server uses, but i dont see an option to choose how many ram can it get, cause i have 32…
What you could do is to run the game with the task manager open so you can monitor the memory usage of both the client and server.
Probably worth checking in the game client log and game server logs if you can see any warning or error messages about memory usage before the moment where it all crash.
That being said, with 32 gigs of ram you should have enough memory, except if possibly you have many players, mods, and a lot of buildings maybe?
Also check the settings for the virtual memory.
it goes higher and higher until it crashes, and its the server. Right now it’s only myself inside.
Was there some recent update (server or mod) that could have introduced some memory leak?
Was the system stable for a while and then it started to misbehave, or have you been doing that only recently?
I had crashing at some point in time. Toolguy’s suggestion is what fixed mine. I set the size to 1 1/2 my system memory of 32gb to 48000mb in the settings. Here is a link to one of many places for instructions:
I apologize for doing this as a reply to another issue. A minor problem has been spotted in the DSL and when I logged in to report it, I get no option for a new message: it looks like the forum does not permit the last poster in the topic to post a new item, just edit/delete/reply.
DSL has a tab for Players. The information is not always correct. There are no players in the game but the tab shows 1 player, and looking at the info log on the tab the last player to join is shown in game but not logged out after quitting.
Which version of the DSL?
1.7.8 now changed to 1.7.9 and will monitor but it is a bit hit and miss when I look at the server computer relative to when players get in/out of the game.
I went back to your 7 May post about the 6 May release of 1.7.9 and see none of the fixes should correct this.
Do you have any log filtering commands active?
The DSL is using the log content to know when people join or leave, so if some of these messages are filtered out, the DSL will miss the information.
