Conan Exiles Dedicated Server Launcher (Official Version: 1.7.12 / Beta: 1.8.0)

Yes, the drive is correctly mapped, but I also alternatively tried to do it from the C: drive

It creates the folder + Logs sub-folder and the log file, nothing else.

root@conan:~/DedicatedServerLauncher/Logs# ls

(dw I will not run it as root in the end)

Small addition:
I got it to launch by manually installing the Dedicated Server using SteamCMD to the expected folder.

What would be interesting is if you could delete your folder (or rename it), then launch the DSL again, don’t edit any parameter, press the start button (answer yes to save), and let the entire process go until it fails.

Normally it should look like that:

  • Bunch of inits
  • Ask confirmation
  • Create a few ini files at the expect locations
  • Creation of SteamCMD.exe
  • Launching of the SteamCMD process with a few parameters
  • The UI changes to the SteamCMD Log view while things gets downloaded
  • Going back to the main Launcher log it shows if the server was found
  • The content of the SteamCMD log is added after that for review
  • Then information about the server startup

Could you take a screenshot of your output, ideally as much as possible like here:

I haven’t played my Conan server in probably a year and just today came back to this issue. With the 1.7.11 version of the dedicated server launcher it was failing to even start up my server. So I tried the older 1.7.08 version that I had still. That one at least launched the server fully but then when I tried to direct connect to it I found the incompatible version error, AKA the server was out of date. I noticed that when I had launched it there was no update which was surprising.

After doing some digging in other threads via Google, I was able to resolve the issue and force update my server doing these steps:

  1. Launch the “steamcmd” .exe found in your server’s directory (Mine was in C:\ConanServer\DedicatedServerLauncher but your location may vary).
  2. Type force_install_dir [path to server location] and hit enter (My server location was C:\ConanServer\DedicatedServerLauncher\ConanExilesDedicatedServer but again yours may vary).
  3. Type login <steam_user> <steam_password> (Replacing the user and password placeholders with your steam account’s, obviously). Enter the Steam guard code if it asks.
  4. Type app_update 443030 validate
  5. Once the update is finished just type quit

This should force update your Conan server. It’s what I did to resolve my issues at least. @Toolguy I don’t know why the dedicated server launcher isn’t doing this anymore. It’s done it fine for years. But I haven’t used it in about a year I’d say so I’m a bit out of date with things.

Looking at the changes in the file history, I see the following:

  • 1.7.4 added checks for the presence of BeforeSteamCMDLauncher.bat and AfterSteamCMDLauncher.bat files to run before and after the main SteamCMD update process
  • 1.7.8 added “+logoff” before the “+quit” in the SteamCMD parameters
  • 1.7.10 added a check to skip the mods updates if the checkbox is ticked
  • 1.7.11 added the “extra SteamCMD command line parameters”

Did you use any of these features?

I haven’t specifically used any of those features. The only one that I’m aware of is the “Manage mods” checkbox that I saw in the 1.7.11 version of the launcher, it appears to default to checked. Where are those two .bat files located? I can’t find them in my server directory at all.

They are not there by default, they are a facility for users if they need to run something before or after, was a request I got a few years ago.

Oh I see, got it.

Can i run the server on a MacBook or does it need to be on Windows?

Hello, im experiencing an issue where i have 9999 ping on a server i have on a different device under the same internet, My friend which is in a different country can join and play just fine. Any idea`s?

Am I correct in thinking that both these devices are within your home network, if so have you tried connecting direct via your local ip instead, this resolve it for me but I was running the dedicated server and then connected via the same machine but I had to use my local ip and port to do so.

Both the Dedicated Server Launcher and the Conan Exiles game server are 64bit Windows application.

That being said, some people managed to run them on Linux using Wine, so possibly that could work on your Mac, but you are on your own on that one, I don’t have a Mac, I have no idea how they work, so I would be pretty useless at helping!

Indeed that’s a common issue. It does not happen to everybody, it seems dependent on the type of router, how the network is setup, etc…

“Direct Connect” with the local IP of the server tends to work in these situations.

I also found that despite ports being opened they were closed within the tool, but this did not prevent me from connecting local.

I assume the port testing was tried without the game server running on the machine?

I just ran the launcher now, windows firewall requested to allow access so I allowed for both private and public, I then selected within the launcher to test ports, this was the result.

I forgot I have a different isp and was able to open the ports on the router, this was the result.

I was also able to see this with conans server browser I had a ping of 8.

Hello Hello, hope all is well. Just had a quick question. I too haven’t used the launcher in a bit so i upgraded to the 1.7.11 version of it just because. I believe I’m doing something fundamentally wrong because I’ve started a brand new server 3 times. I’ve played it for a few hours at a time and it holds. But the issue I’m having is as soon as i close the server and try to restart it, it doesn’t stay up for more than a few seconds and I’ve actually gotten kicked out while playing and the launcher spits out a bunch of errors. I feel like there’s something very simple I’m either doing or not doing that’s causing the issue. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. (just for reference- port forwarding’s and multihome’s all green. I put the launcher in a folder before starting the server and i typically pin it to my desktop after it begins running.) Thanks Again.

I used to be a fan of that setup for WoW and beyond.

Well, without more information it’s hard to diagnose.

Now regarding the “launcher spits out a bunch of errors”, do you really means that they are launcher errors (in the launcher log tabs, or error message dialogs), or are they errors of the servers reported in the server tab of the launcher?

Generally speaking, without providing the actual errors or warnings, there’s not much that can be done

Understandable, I didn’t know where to begin. I’m not sure how to correctly answer your error question. But, what i can say is the Server Log and Errors tabs have a bunch of errors on them. I didn’t list them because there are so many. Also, I may be working off of a previous experience i was asked for a crash log. So i wasn’t sure how to state my problem this time around. Not sure of this answers the question but this is the bottom portion of the errors i receive when my server tries to boot up and ultimately shuts down.
