Bug Description: Impossible to build improved fish traps with new building system because it asks you to have fish trap in your inventory but to build it, you need to use hammer and place it on the ground, when you pick it up with hammer or without, it breaks down to resources.
really all funcom need to do is just update the recipes to not include fish trap and just increase resources for crafting it … Its just such an easy fix for that … im suprise it slip under the radar.
I was just trying to make the improved fish trap and ran into the same issue. I am on an official server. If you pickup the regular fish trap it is destroyed. The improved fish trap requires a regular fish trap and currently no way to make from what I have seen, since the regular fish trap used to be made on person and placed into inventory, no bench.
This is a hard one to fix because it goes against the very grain of the new build system…creative hint…have it as an upgrade for the fish trap as placed. In other words, it requires a fish trap placed and you can put the improved version on top of it. Heck I believe this should be the MO for all of the improved benches provided you cut the building costs down to “upgrade” the current one. It could have it’s own section in the build menu, “Improved”.
An easy fix for them would be to auto-craft the pre-requisite if you have the mats in your inventory, just like the crafting stations. For example, if you want to craft a set of heavy armor, and have all the mats needed for the paddings and the armor in the bench, you can craft it. It’ll craft he padding first, then the armor. Except with building pieces/stations, it’d craft instantly. Seems like a logical fix to me but who knows if they can implement this. But this needs a fix asap. The improved fishtraps are an important station for a lot of people.
Even easier - to have the fishtraps learned as a pre-requisite to learn the improved fishtraps (pretty much like you do with the various other in-world recipes, locked until you learn star metal tools, etc.) - then just craft the improved fishtrap with the resource cost for the normal one included.
