Hello. I’m new here. I’ve been thinking about my own server with a friend for a long time. After setting up the server, I added about 10 mods. I sorted them out and everything worked fine. Recently we wanted to expand the server with more mods. This time, the matter overwhelmed me. I changed the order of the mods many times, but I still can’t connect to the server. Could someone help me with this?
For this game, mod order only matters in a relative manner. Meaning that if you have more than one mod trying to do the same thing, or mods that actually rely on one-another, then their relative positions to each-other (which one is lower in the load order) would matter.
But otherwise there’s no set in stone load order and pretty much all the guides you find out there are just specific guides made by the creators of ONE of those mods to ensure they get the least amount of complaints in case people use conflicting mods… That’s all it is… so TLDR, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it… and if you actually have a mod that has actual problems (outdated and crashing for example), then reordering it won’t fix that in the majority of cases, only in very rare and specific cases.
As far as connecting goes, the server and players connecting need to have an identical mod list. By identical I mean exact versions of all mods, loaded in the exact same order, otherwise you’ll get a mismatch error and can’t connect. This is not because of any one mod, it simply means that something with the mods of your game doesn’t match the server. Either some of them are different versions, or you have extra mods on either the server or your game, or they’re not ordered the same way. Fixing this will let you connect.
